    Indian StandardSPECIFICATION FOR POTASSIUM

CHLORIDE ( MURIATE OF POTASH),FERTILIZER GRADE

    ( First Revision)

    o. FORE WOR D0.1 This Indian Standard (First Revision) was adopted by the IndianStandards Institution on 29 February 1980. after the draft finalized by theFertilizers Sectional Committee had been approved by the Petroleum,Coal and Related! Products Division Council.

0.2 This standard was originally published in 1-964. In the presentrevision, the potash content has been raised from 58·0 to 60·0 percent.Further, since separate standards on methods of sampling and test forfertilizers have been published, those details have, therefore, been deletedfrom this standard.

0.3 In the preparation of this standard, consideration has been given tothe need for maintaining co-ordination with the specification of the Ferti-lizer ( Control ) Order, 1957 and the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 ofGovernment of India. However•.this standard is subject to the provisionsimposed under this Order wherever applicable.

0.4 For particle size, the use of IS sieves conforming to IS: 460·\962· isprescribed. 'Where IS sieves are not available, other standard sieves asJudged from aperture size may be wed.

0.5 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of thisstandard is complied with. the final value, observed or calculated, expres-sing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordancewith IS: 2-19& t. The number of significant places retained in therounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in thisstandard.
