Importance of PPEs at Site

HARD HATS

SAFETY SHOES

REFLECTIVEJACKETS

Too many accidents happen at workplaces every year and most of the time it’s because of the absence or lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE are designed to guard you against any risk present in the workplace. This can be anything from molten metal to falling debris to electric shock.

This is the most popular kind of PPE. Just passing by a construction site, you can see workers wearing their helmets or hard hats. Such protective gears are designed to protect against impact and penetration of flying and falling objects. It may be equipped with accessories such as face shields and earmuffs.

Employees must never alter their head protection in any way. Remember, too, that a hard hat or helmet that is either too large or too small is not appropriate for use.

Personal Protective Equipment

EYE AND FACE PROTECTION

While you may be safe from impacts with your hard hat, you may be taking for granted the risk of eye and face injury. With the use of goggles, spectacles and full face shields you can get the protection you need for your eyes and face. Such equipment are designed to protect you while you perform metal-working, woodworking, air-tool operations and hot-work. This type of PPE is also helpful when you perform power or pressure spray operations and chemical handling processes.

When you think about shoes for the workplace, heavy-duty footwear such as steel toe boots may come to mind. These boots, which have reinforced toes to protect the feet from hazards such as heavy objects, are important Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at many industrial and construction worksites.

Many kinds of shoes exist that can make jobs safer, though, not just steel toe boots. Other types of boots and shoes can provide traction, arch support and other safety benefits.

Shoes may not seem as critical to workplace safety as protective eyewear or gloves, but footwear provides many benefits.

High-visibility Safety Apparel (Reflective Jacket) is needed if you work when there is low light and poor visibility, especially if you are working around moving vehicles (cars, trucks or other machinery traveling under their own power - e.g., forklifts, backholes, etc). High-visibility items allow you to be seen by the drivers of those vehicles sooner and more readily. This fact increases your safety at work. The human eye responds best to large, contrasting, bright or moving objects. Worker visibility is enhanced by high colour contrast between clothing and the work environment against which it is seen.

Our Safety Officers conducted Safety Induction at various sites. During Induction Program, basic DOs and DON’Ts at site were being propagated before starting of work.

During a quality inspection, an inspector was checking a kraft and accidentally it fell from his hands and hit the employee standing nearby. It hit his safety goggles and left a scar on it. There was a very high probability of an eye injury if the employee was not wearing safety goggles.

ACME CLEBRATED INDIA’S 68th REPUBLIC DAY AND 28th ROAD SAFETY WEEK

Road Safety Week and Republic Day were celebrated across all our Solar Plants. We also undertook various CSR initiatives during these events. We also distributed school bags, sweets and prizes at nearby government schools.

Environment Awareness Message

Solar energy technologies offer a clean, renewable, and domestic energy source, and are essential components of a sustainable energy future. Solar energy systems (i.e., photovoltaic, solar thermal) provide significant environmental benefits in comparison to the conventional energy sources. But there are certain issues observed during construction and operation of the plant. We are discussing certain issues and its anticipated impact written below.

Dust generation due to movement of vehicles.

Sprinkling of water at the sites for redution of dust.

Particular:

Anticipated Impact:

Solid Waste (Paper, Polythene & Cardboard, etc.) during installation of modules and other components.

There should be a separate storage area for solid waste collection which shall be sold further to junk dealer /kabadiwala.

Particular:

Anticipated Impact:

Unwanted material (wood, cloth pieces, long dry grass, etc.) present at the site.

There should be proper cleaning of these material, they can cause any disaster (Fire) at site.

Particular:

Anticipated Impact:

Toilet facilities for workers.

Mobile toilet facilities should be provided at the site for clean environment.

Particular:

Anticipated Impact:

Water sent to nearby drains after cleaning of modules.

Reuse of module cleaning water in the sprinkling purpose must be done to minimize air pollution.

Particular:

Anticipated Impact:

Less concern towards tree plantation at the site.

Proper landscaping should be done at the periphery and at the front of MCR. It will help in maintaining clean & healthy environment.

PARICHAY - ACME Induction Program

“Parichay” (common induction program) was launched at ACME on 25th January 2017.

A total of 15 employees across Solar, Telecom, REIME, GEMC and R&D attended the program.

Objective:

To enable the new employees to settle into the new job and become an integrated member of the team, and understand how their role fits in with the rest of the company.

ACME organized "Bandhan" - O&Mconclave ACME organized O&M conclave from 10th-12th Jan 2017 at Headquarters where all operational plant heads & state heads were invited for review and discussions. The event was applauded by all participants and their feedback was very motivating.

ACME launched EHS Online Reporting System

We are happy to announce the launch of online Reporting System for all EHS Reports like weekly reports, monthly reports and issue tracker. Now all reports can be directly uploaded by Site Safety Officers and all details related any site can be seen online.

In Issue Tracker, site safety officers can directly upload any site related issue along with the responsible person who owns that work, like Site in charge, electrical Engg, Civil Engg or any manager who is supervising that work.

Issues have been divided into three categories, high, medium and low and an auto generated mail will be sent to the responsible person who has to close that issue. If the issue has not been closed in the scheduled timeline an auto generated mail will be sent to his line manager to close the issue.

This issue tracker would be beneficial in O&M and project sites.

Help increase productivity in a shorter period of time.Reduce short-term turnover of staff.
