ISE4 Future Ship Acquisition Demo Proposal 3

ISE4 Revised Future Ship Acquisition Demo Scenario

• Mission Requirements and Initial Arrangements provided by the Navy via ASSET – TWR 841 will be used as input

• TWR 841 Model Captured in FORAN to be treated as Concept Design – Send AP216 file to Navy (ASSET) for Analysis

• ASSET will pose new mission requirements and generates an initial Arrangement (AP215 Model)– List of Compartments with Requirements plus possibly some minimal Geometry

• Arrangement returned to Design Agent (FORAN) which sets up compartmentation and generates updated AP215 file (Part 21)

• Demonstrate Initial Electrical System design (KSSI)– Electronic System in Pilot House

• Navy selects Diesel Engine which fulfills base requirements and incorporates into ship contract

ISE4 Future Ship Acquisition Demo Proposal 4

ISE4 Revised Future Ship Acquisition Demo Scenario cont’d.

• Two build yards (CAD Systems: ISDP and TRIBON) will be doing a collaborative design and are awarded a preliminary/detailed design contract– TRIBON will design Topside– ISDP will design below Decks

• Shipyards add Diesel to CPC Catalog and receive AP203 file

• Arrangements Model is transferred to TRIBON (P28) via AP215 exchange– Transfer requires Mediators between Part 28 and Part 21 files

• Designs are created in ISDP, and TRIBON– Arrangements transferred via AP218 to LEAPS and COMMANDS for Analysis

– COMMANDS creates mesh and sends to Analysis tools (e.g. PATRAN, ABACUS)

– FEM Analysis performed on revised model of Engine Room

– Analysis report generated

• Design Agent sends Arrangements Model to LEAPS for Vulnerability Analysis

ISE4 Future Ship Acquisition Demo Proposal 5

ISE4 Revised Future Ship Acquisition Demo Scenario cont’d.

• Extract Structure for Manufacturing (Intergraph)

• Develop neutral structural manufacturing model (ISPE)

• Generate yard-specific manufacturing data (EB, Avondale)– Compare EB and Avondale manufacturing outputs

• Ship check existing TWR design– Provide scanned shots of Engine Room from Ship Check Data Capture Project

– Emphasize synergy between these NSRP funded projects, even though Demo is separate and not part of Ship Check Data Capture

Demo Scenario Issues

• Scenario has analysis software used to discriminate among three proposed designs– More realistic than usual Demo Scenarios

• Must find way to work Electrical and ISPE (Steel Processing) more smoothly into Demo

• Steel Processing should be easily integrated with the Arrangements and Analysis scenarios, but we must determine what can be exchanged from this task
