Arts Activity Weeks

27 - 31 JulSwitched On

Ignite your imagination. Experiment with art techniques inspired by famous artists including Pablo Picasso and Kurt Pio on the many facets of light. Try a whole range of materials, textures and colour in fun and highly unusual ways. Create your alter ego with luminous face paints, have fun dressing up in our special glow in the dark costumes and shimmer under ultra violet light. How does Wire Face Sculptures and Bubblicious Print-making sound as a starter?

Create, design and turn your ideas into action through group and solo projects. You’ll be so switched on and busy that if you blink you’ll miss something.

Ranging from teaching technical skills, open-ended experimentation to capturing light bulb moments. This week is all about your imagination being firmly in the spotlight. Join like-minded creative sparks to create, design, capture and inspire with never a dull moment. Invent epic pop up stories to perform in our super-sized light box theatre inspired by artist, author and illustrator Jan Pienkowski. Create a beautiful explosion of neon technicolor creations with action painting à la Jackson Pollock. Explore the bling art of Keith Haring using prism reflections to create 3D self-portraits. Construct through clever use of fantasy film, kinetic mobile structures inspired by sculptor Alexander Calder.

Imagine your very own professional theatre company, theatre and dance studio at your finger-tips. We’ll switch on and light up the ISLAND with your bright ideas and energy. You, and the new friends you will make, will be at the heart of everything we do. The creative process will include drama, dance and music. No experience is necessary just lots of enthusiasm.

Develop and learn contemporary and musical theatre techniques that build strength in your voice and develops your confidence in singing and performance. Choreograph your own expressive and exciting dance routine and bring your own script to life, live on stage.
