ISOENZYMES
ISOENZYMES (or ISOZYMES) are distinct enzyme
forms that catalyze the same reaction.

ZYMOGRAMan electrophoretic strip (as of starch gel) or a
representation of it exhibiting the pattern ofseparated enzymes and especially isoenzymes
after electrophoresis
(Merriam Websters Medical Dictionary)
A strip or band of electrophoretic medium
showing the pattern of enzymes or isoenzymesafter their separation by electrophoresis.

ZYMOGRAM Zymography is an electrophoretic technique that
includes a substrate copolymerised with thepolyacrylamide gel for the detection of enzymes andtheir activity.
Samples are prepared without denaturing the activeenzymes present in the samples.
Following electrophoresis, the gel is placed in anenzyme activation buffer which allows the enzymespresent in the sample to become active and digest the
substrates copolymerised in the gel. The zymogram is subsequently stained and the areas
of enzyme activity become visible.
