M08 ISO/NPG barrier gelcoat - SILKCARE

Description

Gelcoat: Isophthalic-neopentylene-buffer layer („barrier coat“) pre-accelerated, green gelcoat

Specifics: M08 – barrier coat was developed for optimizing the chemical-esthetical performance of the gelcoats in the field of shipbuilding and for mould making. It is a product easy to handle which allows a high quality finish on all fiber glass reinforced plastic parts.

Advantages: M08 – barrier coat is either used in spraying- or brushing process. Thus a first coat in vinylester is prevented, which guarantee the following advantages: time saving – less marks on the gelcoat – higher osmosis resistance – removal of the defects which were caused by incorrect rolling – low costs for the finish (sanding and polishing).

Process: Spraying-/ Brushing process

Technical data sheet

H15 EPOCARE-gelcoat

Description

H15 Epocare is a pre-accelerated product, based on polyester resin, suitable for spraying- and brushing

process. It is deliverable in different colors.

Advantages:

H15 Epocare is distinguished by excellent osmosis resistance, good weather resistance, low yellowing, connected with a very low reduction of the gloss grade.

Due to its special composition Epocare offers good adhesion, also at components which aren’t produced with polyester resin but e.g. with epoxy resin.

Due to these characteristics it’s possible to laminate with epoxy resin on the Epocare-surface directly, without using a coupling agent.

Before using Epocare in your production, it’s urgently recommended to check the adhesion and compatibility with the epoxy resin.

160418 order by phone: +49 9635 9202-0 Avanti UP>EP coupling additive by E-mail: [email protected]

Technical data sheet

Avanti UP>EP coupling additive UP-gelcoat converter

Brief description:

With Avanti UP>EP coupling additive high quality SIRCA® ISO- or ISO-NPG-gelcoats become compatible gelcoats for numerous epoxy resins.

Avanti UP>EP coupling additive is no primer.

Avanti UP>EP coupling additive is ready for use and will be given into the SIRCA®-gelcoat directly without changing its premium characteristics.

Product advantages:

> Wide scope of use possibilities You can use the complete variety of SIRCA® ISO- or ISO-NPG-gelcoats. If transparent, grindable,

fire protection etc.; with Avanti UP>EP coupling additive the characteristics of the SIRCA®-gelcoats will not change.

> No color changes

You can choose any color from the wide SIRCA®-gelcoat-offer, Avanti UP>EP coupling additive doesn’t change the color.

> Resistance against UV-light and weather influences High quality SIRCA® ISO- or ISO-NPG-gelcoats are known for its high gloss grade and color

fidelity also under high UV load and changing weather influences.- Avanti UP>EP coupling

additive doesn’t change these positive characteristics.

> Multi compatible

Avanti UP>EP coupling additive is compatible to the most common epoxy-resin/hardener combinations. The epoxy laminate keeps all requested characteristics unchanged.

> Fast application The reactivity of SIRCA®-gelcoat remains unchanged. The epoxy laminate can be laminated at once after complete polymerization of the gelcoat. No additional treatment of the gelcoat surface is necessary.

> Hardening at room temperature Tempering follows is only necessary when gelcoat or EP resin are requesting it. Please consider here the technical data sheet of the producer.

Working instruction:

Before the additive is mixed it must be heated to min. 25°C (e.g. in a bain-marie) and

shaken very well, to dissolve the components completely.

At room temperature Avanti UP>EP coupling additive is not completely clear. That‘s normal and no indicator for overlong storage.

Avanti UP>EP coupling additive is added in a dosage of 2% to SIRCA®-gelcoat. A packing unit with 500ml is calculated for a gelcoat package with 25 kg.

Avanti UP>EP coupling additive reduces viscosity and gel time of the gelcoat a little. Apply the gelcoat according to manufacturers‘ instructions. Here the mould can have room

temperature. At higher temperatures (30 - 35°C) the production cycle will shorten.

On the gelcoat epoxy resin can be laminated as soon as the gelcoat polymerized

completely and the surface of the complete face is non-adhesive and obviously free of

grease. Normally this is fact at latest after 48 hours. Using highly reactive gelcoats and hardeners it can be laminated further with epoxy resin already after few hours.

Prevent gelcoats which already contain paraffin or internal separating agents.

The shelf life of the gelcoat in principle remains unchanged by adding Avanti UP>EP

coupling additive. But for all opened packages it‘s recommended to use it promptly.

Storage:

At storage in the dark in closed original packages and max. 20°C the product is workable for 24 months after production date. At storage over this space of time and other storage conditions as described the characteristics can change resp. make the product unusable.

Avanti UP>EP coupling additive can get frozen, if it’s stored at very low temperatures.

Important note:

Due to various epoxy resin – and hardener combinations on the market we absolutely recommend to make a test laminate under production conditions before working.

All information contained in this data sheet are based on our technical and scientific knowledge, but buyer and user should make their own trials with our products under their own use conditions.

** Hardening parameter: after 24 hours at room temperature and 2 hours at 80°C

To achieve best results we recommend:

1) gelcoat, mould- and room temperature between 15°C and 28°C 2) good mixing / stirring of the gelcoat before working starts 3) addition of 1% to 2% hardener MEKP50 4) a layer thickness between 450 and 750 µ 5) don’t add any solvents
