Venue

City University of Hong Kong (CityU), located at the center of Hong Kong, will be the venue for the scientific program of the symposium. CityU is just ten minutes of walk from the Kowloon Tong mass transit railway (MTR) station and next to a large shopping mall Festival Walk, which offers a wide range of shopping and dining options.

Access Hong Kong is a key aviation hub serviced by more than 100 airlines operating direct flights to a number of cities over the world. CityU can be reached by MTR from the Hong Kong International Airport via Airport Express (45 minutes) or by taxi (25 minutes). Participants from mainland China may also travel to Hong Kong by train. The MTR runs regular through-train intercity services between Hong Kong and Guangdong province. Frequent rail services are available between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Scientific and Social Programs The scientific program will comprise 8 plenary lectures, 16 invited lectures, a number of oral presentations, and a poster session. The social program will include a welcome reception, an afternoon excursion, and an evening banquet. More details on the programs will be announced at a later date.

Accommodation CityU provides a number of air-conditioned rooms in the student residential halls, which are easily accessible (10-minute walks). Many hotels are also available near CityU and are easily accessed by local transportation such as the MTR. More details on accommodation choices will be available at a later date.

Weather and Currency It is generally hot and humid in Hong Kong in July, with occasional showers and typhoons. The average low and high temperatures are 27°C (81°F) and 31°C (88°F). However, most indoor areas are air-conditioned. Hong Kong dollar is the official local currency (HKD 7.8 = USD 1). Currency exchange is available at the airport, Hang Seng Bank on CityU campus, and other banks in Festival Walk.

Contact and Subscription to the Mailing List Please send an email to the Secretary ([email protected]) or Ken Lo ([email protected]) to receive most updated information of the symposium. The website of the meeting will be available soon.

We look forward to welcoming you to Hong Kong in July 2019!
