The sensor is small enough to be integrated into water meter and provides a dense network of acoustic monitoring array. Aquarius has developed advanced algorithms that provide automatic high reliability detection of leaks in complex networks, using signal processing and statistic analysis.Function of the product(s):The system is based on a wireless sensors network (GSM) that are installed on hydrants or in valve pits, providing ONLINE monitoring and location of water leaks over large distances. The system utilizes novel multi-sensor algorithms for leaks detection enabling detection and location of small leaks at a distance of over 400 meters (on average 2.5 sensors per pipe km) and a 1-2 meter location accuracy. The system uses distributed signal processing and small data packets for communication, enabling up to 5 years of maintenance-free battery operation.

A shut off valve equipped with an onboard ASM is installed in-line, on the main water entry to the premises, and a controller is installed in a central location inside the premises. The ASMs form a mesh that communicates wirelessly with the controller. At the core we implement a propriety FFT-DSP detection method that teaches and trains the ASMs as to the permitted flows at each egress point via a spectral analysis of the acoustic signature of the water flowing through. A difference between the water flowing in and the “permitted” water flowing out is assessed in order to identify leaks from big leaks to hidden leaks of less than half a gallon per hour. The schedule is updated in real-time in response to ad-hoc changes in the operating conditions of the water network elements and deviations from the forecasted water demand.PeakWater is also unique in it’s ability to consider multiple energy contracts, including dynamic pricing, and finding their best seasonal portfolio mix for a given water delivery network operation. Dynamic utilization of water sources with different water prices is considered part of the problem and is embedded in the overall least-cost solution.In addition to the on-line real-time mode, PeakWater software can be used in an off-line mode to simulate and analyse the cost-impact of various water network operating conditions and scenarios.
