Mission
Mission Objectives
One of the main objectives of the first Indian mission to Mars is to develop the
technologies required for design, planning, management and operations of an
interplanetary mission.
Following are the major objectives of the mission:
A. Technological Objectives:
Design and realisation of a Mars orbiter with a capability to survive and perform
Earth bound manoeuvres, cruise phase of 300 days, Mars orbit insertion / capture,
and on-orbit phase around Mars.
Deep space communication, navigation, mission planning and management.
Incorporate autonomous features to handle contingency situations.
B. Scientific Objectives:
Exploration of Mars surface features, morphology, mineralogy and Martian
atmosphere by indigenous scientific instruments.

We have also deployed our Encryption devices
over NKN as well as VRF channel and
conducted End-to-End tests
We got very good IPERF, FTP-GET and FTP-
PUT END-TO-END bandwidth between all
the connected nodes(approx 80-88 Mbps
over 100 Mbps channel)
Thanks to
NKN/NIC
and my
colleagues
from all
the ISRO
Centers
THANKS TO NKN
We are privileged to be part of this National asset,
i.e. National Knowledge Network
ISSDC was connected to NKN in the month of Oct
2011
Since then NKN link is very stable and smooth except some
link intermittency was observed during Feb-Apr 2013
Excellent follow up of issues from NIC, Bangalore
NKN has become very critical service for ISSDC as
most of the science data dissemination and satellite
operations messages have been disseminated over
NKN to the concerned

LOOKING FORWARD
All the remaining ISRO centers/units to be
connected to NKN
All the remaining ISRO nodes to be connected to
ISSDC over ISRO-DOS-VRF
Multi-Homing is in advanced stages, look forward to
complete it quickly
New Informations / WebPortals which are hosted on
NKN to be updated at one place for better
knowledge sharing among members.
