Workshop will be presented in Portuguese, by Ricardo Carvalho from Leader-
ship Business Consulting, Lisbon. The need to understand the fundamentals
of Finance and Financial Management is vital for any Manager in business.
This knowledge will assist Managers in playing a role in the strategy and per-
formance of their businesses.
This Workshop is aimed at Professionals, who, are increasingly expected to
prepare and manage budgets and forecasts and to contribute at manage-
ment meetings to the discussions around operating results. The Workshop

COUNTRY MANAGER - BEIRA, MOZAMBIQUE
Mozambique Principle Energy LDA (MozPEL), has initiated an ethanol-from-sugarcane operation in the Dombe region
of central Mozambique with the objective of producing ethanol in 2013.
As the onsite representative for Mozambique Principle Energy LDA, the Country Manager will have overall
responsibility to provide local onsite expertise and resources to the MozPEL Project Manager, to MozPEL’s
business partners and to on site contractors. Further, the incumbent will oversee the functioning and op-
eration of the MozPEL Beira office.
Based in Beira, the Country Manager will:
• Ensure the business operation conforms to Mozambique legislation
• Liaison with Project, Agricultural and Social and Sustainability managers on all statutory regula-
tion requirements.
• Oversee the local financial management and control of the project. Source & order key local agri-
cultural requirements
• Arrange customs clearance and payment of duties for imported goods
• Initiate consultations with Government leaders and local authorities to ensure that the project ob-
jectives are met
• Coordinate the ordering and importing of project equipment, special resources and project con-
sumables
• Facilitate logistical arrangements to ensure investor visits are optimised
• Enhance business partner involvement to ensure objectives are met
The successful incumbent will:
• Be a Mozambique citizen (preferable)
• Alternatively, non Mozambican citizens must be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of the
Mozambique laws covering importation of goods, work permits, labour laws and a broad under-
standing of the local government procedures
• Be results driven
• Possess strong communication and negotiation skills
• Have a tertiary education covering financial, logistics and general management
• Have acquired general management experience with emphasis on managing green field opera-
tions.
• Commence on 1 June or soonest thereafter.
