FOR A GOOD CAUSE Noel Cislowski, outstanding interpreter of Victoriana and much loved Australian verse, together with John Martin, internationally acclaimed accompanist, present an absolutely delightful evening's entertainment of song and verse from Mother England and her colonies. Noel is one of Australia’s foremost performers of Australian bush ballads and the works of CJ Dennis, was recently awarded a Fellowship from the Australian Music Examinations Board for his performances. He also holds AMEB and Trinity College (London) diplomas in speech, drama and singing, and has performed works with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Festival Symphony Orchestra. He has performed leading roles on stage and in musical comedy in Brisbane and Sydney. Noel has for many years been a teacher of speech and drama, a lecturer in music and drama at several universities in NSW, an adjudicator and examiner in music, speech and drama. As a relief from literary and performance pursuits Noel has been a premiership Rugby League referee and a keen sailor. He is an active Rotarian and is Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow with Chatswood Rotary. John Martin is one of Australia’s most diverse, sensitive, award-winning pianists. From his early days in Mudgee, John has been playing professionally for twenty five years; from recitals, ensem-bles, classical concerts through to jazz, popular music & cabaret. John’s warm, vibrant personality & eclectic perform-ance skills are legendary; comfortably embracing live radio broadcasts, John has become a regularly featured artist on Classic FM’s Breakfast, Drive & Thursday Live programs. The performance at taste Canowindra on Saturday 23 October will include some Victorian poems that connect with examples of early colonial poetry. Noel's fee will be donated to Canteen, for Young People Living With Cancer.

END OF AN ERA Congratulations to Mr Nick Berry who has been appointed to Blayney High School next year, and also to Mrs Fiona Wymer who has elected to take leave and relinquish her position from 2011. Both Mr Berry and Mrs Wymer have made large contributions to our school over many years and leave big shoes to fill. Patricia‐Ann Daniel has been appointed as a maths teacher to replace Mrs Wymer. Ms Daniel is currently appointed at a Sydney school and is looking forward to a better lifestyle in country NSW. To better support the current DET and student learning emphasis in numeracy, Mr Berry’s existing teaching and learning head teacher classification has been changed to mathematics. This position has now been cleared for advertisement and it is hoped the successful candidate will be announced before the end of school term.
