It also allows children to form friendships and feel a sense of belonging as a member of our school community. We value every child in our school and want them to be successful learners who enjoy coming to school. Every day counts! Bell times- reminder for parents and carers Learning time in our school is extremely valuable and we attempt to minimise disruptions in the school as much as possible. Parents and carers are reminded that school starts at 8.50am every morning with our whole school assembly. Learning time finishes at 2.50pm. We ask that parents and carers arrive at school no earlier than 2.45 at pick up time to collect children. Mrs Ryan

available on the day explaining non participation.

Could you please remind your child to be prepared:

while watching the races. We suggest sitting on a rug.

    April is Autism Month

    What is the Autism Spectrum?

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition, which is not an illness. It is a different way of looking at the world. Every Individual on the Autism Spectrum is Different

‘If you’ve met one person on the autism spectrum, you’ve met one person on the spectrum.’ Prof Stephen Shore

Having stated that, there are a few things I know about my friends with Autism:

People with Autism are people first

No one is to blame for Autism, it is the name given to a brain that processes

information in a way that is different to that of the majority of the population.

    They LOVE routine and order.

    Visual information is the best.

Occasionally, time is needed to understand information or to ‘work through’

changes. Visual representation, timers / countdowns can help.

Sometimes ordinary sounds, sights and touches can be painful.

From time to time they may have difficulty understanding social situations, it is

best if I explain my feelings and social situations.

If someone with Autism is not looking at me they are not disrespectful. Looking

away, wandering, moving around or fiddling can help them to listen and

    understand.

Here is a clip, which we will be looking at in school that may assist

in your understandings - Autism explained -
