PSSA Netball Our school netball team travelled to Smiths Lake on Wednesday to play Pacific Palms Public School in the PSSA Knockout Netball Competition. After the long drive the girls had a stretch, warmed up and played a strong game. The end result was a 22-17 win. Congratulations girls and good luck for the next round! The team includes: Leah D, Tahlia L, Eden C, Lexie A, Montaya M, Suki S, Millie B and Charlise T. Thankyou to the parents for driving and Mrs Campbell and Mrs Sarah Matthews for coaching the team.
Public Speaking “On Tuesday 18 June Lily B and Nicholas H participated in the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition 2019 Hunter/Central Coast Local Final No 2 at Medowie Public School. There were fourteen students participating. All of the competitors were equally challenging. We all presented a prepared speech, then were given a topic to deliver a two minute impromptu talk on, with five minutes to plan. Sadly neither Nick or Lily will continue on to regionals, but they had an enjoyable day and spoke well. Congratulations to the winner and the highly commended students. We wish everyone all the best in their future public speaking adventures.” By Lily B and Nicholas H.

Athletics Carnival
We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny day for our Athletics Carnival yesterday. The oval was a sea of colour with children and their families wearing house colours to support their team. Congratulations to all of our competitors and spectators, we commend you for your sportsmanship throughout the day. It was admirable to see students encouraging and congratulating each other for their efforts.
Our traditional March Past was the first event of the day. Retired teacher Ms Joy Lawrence judged this event and deemed Hannah the winners. House captains Leah and Bastiaan, and Vice Captains Eden and James are pictured below with the marching trophy.
A few fields events are yet to be finalised, so results and our Zone Team will be announced next week. Thanks to our staff for organising and running the carnival. Thanks to our P&C and canteen for providing delicious options for lunch and to Miss U and Mrs Wendy Parker for taking photos throughout the day. These will be posted on Facebook soon. https://www.facebook.com/AnnaBayPublicSchool/

Canteen Corner
Thank you to everyone who visited the canteen on the athletics carnival day. It was great to see you all in your team colours, enjoying the day. Also a huge thank you to the volunteers who helped out - we couldn't have done it without you.
If there are any parents or carers who would like to help during the week, we would love to have you on board. Please see either Jody or Anne in the canteen to see how you can help.
Keep those thinking caps on!
Details will be out soon regarding the naming competition for our canteen however in the meantime, keep your thinking caps on for some good names! A vote will decide the end winner and there will be a prize for the name chosen.
Just a reminder that the canteen staff are unable to reheat food brought in from home.

The school disco next week will be themed! Pop on your winter PJs for a fun night with your friends. To tie in with this theme we will have a cup of milk with a flavoured Sipaah straw available for purchase. And what goes better with a cup of milk than a freshly baked cookie! If there is anyone who can help with the disco, please let us know. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Our next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 25th June at 5.30pm in the school library for anyone wishing to attend.
