Quicksmart Tips for Learners
Becoming faster and more
confident in recalling basic
mathematics facts can
mean that students have more time, energy
and attention available for tackling more
challenging mathematical problems.
Quicksmart - 10 minute tip of the week
How to calculate quickly.
When adding a list of numbers, look for pairs
of numbers that add to ten. This makes it
easier to quickly add up.
For example: all these pairs add to ten
1 + 9 2 + 8 3 + 7
4 + 6 5 + 5
Election Day BBQ on 9 September: We
have cut the hours so the BBQ runs from 8 to
12:00, as we don’t have enough volunteers. Is
anyone available to help between the hours of
8 to 10:00… ? We are a bit short handed
during that time frame.
Due to the school holidays, our next meeting is
Tuesday, 24 October, at 5:30pm in the school
library. Everyone is welcome – you don’t have
to be a member to attend. -Renee Thompson
