Jaipur Municipal Corporation venture in the field of Waste Water Management

Hemant Sharma, Executive Engineer, Jaipur Municipal Corporation

Jaipur Municipal Corporation has taken up various Mod) under construction likely to be completed by projects in the field of waste water management and June, 2009.achieved distinct place in environmental engineering next

JMC is going to establish a R&D center of excellence only to city of Chennai. Some of the projects worth

at Delawas to provide opportunity for doing research mentioning are:-

work (Ph.D and M.Tech) in collaboration with Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. The research 1. 62.5mld Sewage Treatment Plant Unit-I at Delawas work will be utilized for the optimization of ASP for Jaipur South, based on activated sludge process process and power generation. JMC shall be first in followed by anaerobic digestion-under O&M.India to create such facility.

2. 62.5mld Sewage Treatment Plant Unit-II at Delawas for Moreover, JMC has prepared a Detailed Project Jaipur South, based on activated sludge process followed Report for establishment of Tertiary Treatment Plant of by anaerobic digestion-under construction; 70% work capacity 20mld at Delawas (15mld ultra filtration and completed; likely to be completed by May 2009.5mld reverse osmosis) Thus, the water treated by

3. 50mld Sewage Treatment Plant at Jai Singh Pura tertiary treatment shall be of quality better than Khor for Jaipur North, based on activated sludge drinking water quality and it can be gainfully utilized in process followed by anaerobic digestion-under industries, saving ground water and precious Bisalpur construction; 70% work completed; likely to be Water.completed by May 2009.

In order to provide sewerage facility to low lying areas 4. Power generation from Bio-Gas being generated at JMC is going to provide a unique solution by

62.5mld Sewage Treatment Plant Unit-I at Delawas; establishing small STP's of capacity 0.5mld to 1 mld. A the capacity of Power generation plant shall be 0.5 DPR is under preparation for providing 100% megawatt and it will generate 8800 kwh units per day sewerage coverage to Jaipur City.making STP sustainable (STP requirement is 8600

In order to strengthen existing sewerage system JMC kwh unit per day) 70% work completed; likely to be is preparing a DPR for study, replacement, completed by March 2009.rehabilitation and repair of sewer lines. In this project

5. 93000 connectivity to trap sullage (Waste Water from JMC plans to deploy latest mechanized techniques of Kitchen and Bathroom) in the existing sewerage replacement/ rehabilitation/curing of pipes viz; Pipe network, within walled city of Jaipur. Under construction Bursting Technology, ribloc technology, CIPP likely to be completed by December, 2009 Technology.

JMC is thus wining the frontiers of Waste Water 6. 41 km sewer line is being laid in 17 colonies situated at Delhi bye pass (from Transport Nagar to Ramgarh Management and showing way to other local bodies.
