State, Federal and International food animal production systems, as well as inspection protocols used for animal cruelty response and for licensing of commercial companion animal, entertainment (zoo, racing) and laboratory animal research facilities. Students will develop skills in collecting and analyzing different types of animal welfare data, advising clients in identifying and achieving animal welfare goals, and communication. Offered 1-2 times. Class limit of 15. Travel to food animal and companion animal facilities is required.
