WHAT MAKES IMMUNOTEC A COMPANY UNLIKE ANY OTHER?It all started with the immune system. Over forty years ago, scientists based in Montreal Canada, discovered the role of a specially-prepared whey

protein isolate (now famous as Immunocal) in raising glutathione, a molecule often referred to as the body's master antioxidant. By the mid-1990s, the scientists (you'll meet them on page 4), had teamed up with veteran network marketing entrepreneur, Chuck Roberts, Dieter Beer, and John Molson, of the notable Canadian Molson family, to found the company now known to the world as Immunotec.

From the beginning, Immunotec was different. And what made it different was that world class scientists created the company's flagship product, Immunocal, which has achieved global recognition through patents issued in the U.S., Canada, and countries around the world, is listed in respected medical publications, supported by official government health claims, and used by elite professional and amateur athletes worldwide. (The full story of Immunocal and its second generation, Immunocal Platinum, is told on pages 6 and 7.)

Dr. Dröge was first to describe the effect of glutathione on the immune response of a living organism and to discover the abnormally low cysteine and glutathione levels in HIV patients. His work set the standard for the formulation of effective new Immunotec products such as Immunocal Platinum.

Dr. Kongshavn's main body of research was concerned with increasing knowledge of the immune system, with a focus on cellular immunology. This work led to the discovery of the particular whey protein concentrate that regulates glutathione levels, thereby improving immune function.

In conjunction with colleagues from McGill University's Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Bounous searched for a dietary protein source that would boost the immune system. This research led to the isolation and preparation of an undenatured milk concentrate that helps to sustain normal glutathione levels and a strong immune system.

THE SCIENCE AND SCIENTISTS OF IMMUNOCAL AND GLUTATHIONERecent discoveries have shed important light on the role that glutathione plays in maintaining health. Most people have not heard of glutathione, however, given the accelerated rate of

Immunotec's scientific heritage and connection to the immune system are embodied in the graphic symbol that has been the company's logo since its

founding in 1996. What most people do not know is that this bold, simple design represents an "antibody". An antibody is a large, Y-shaped protein produced mainly by plasma cells, that is used by the immune system to identify and neutralize pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. (Don't worry, this won't be on the exam!)
