INTRODUCTION

WHO DO YOU SAY JESUS IS?

How would you feel, if a close friend looked into your eyes and

asked you, “Who do people say I am, and who do you say I

am?” These were the unexpected questions Jesus asked His dis-

ciples, yet, He never intended to belittle or disgrace them. It was

rather to awaken them, so that they would not take things for

granted, and assume that they knew Him, as they should.

This question in particular, “who do you say I am?” was a pow-

erful reminder of Luke 10:22. “All things have been delivered

to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except

the Father and who the Father is except the Son, and the one

to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” (Luke 10:22;

Matt. 11:27)

For that reason, when Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the

Son of the Living God”, Jesus replied, “Blessed are you Simon

bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you,

but My Father who is in heaven.” (Matt. 16:13-18)

In other words, Peter’s right answer was not according to

human knowledge, but a revelation from God the Father. Many

people in the world today, think they know Jesus, because they

have read, studied and heard so much from men.

There are also many religions and cults that do not know the true

Jesus of the Bible, but only teach what they presume to be the

truth. Let everyone, therefore, seek to know exactly what Jesus

Page 3: IT MATTERS WHAT YOU BELIEVE · D. Jesus Assures Your Eternal Life-The Life Of God. John 3:14, 16(13-21); John 6:40 14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even

of the Bible says about Himself. Then, you would realize your

dire need of Him as Lord and Saviour of your life.

1. WHAT JESUS REVEALS ABOUT HIMSELF!

A. Special “I AM”s Jesus Attributed to Himself.

1. “I am the Bread of Life.” (John 6:35, 41, 48, 51)

2. “I am the Light of the wor ld.” (John 8:12; 9:5)

3. “I am the Door of the sheep.” (John 10:7-9)

4. “I am the Good Shepher d.” (John 10:11-15)

5. “I am the Resur rection and the Life.” (John 11:25, 26)

6. “I am the Way the Tr uth and the Life.” (John 14:6)

7. “I am the True Vine.” (John 15:1-5)

B. Special Attributes Jesus Applied To Himself.

1. “The Son of God.” (John 3:16-17; John 5:25, 26)

2. “The Saviour of the world.” (John 3:16; Luke 19:10;

John 12:47)

3. “The Christ.” (Matt. 16:16-18; 22:41-45)

4. “The Son of Man.” (John 5:25-27; John 9:26)

5. “The Ransom.” (Matt. 20:24-28; Mark 10:41-45)

6. “The Lord of the Sabbath.” (Matt. 12:1-8)

Dear worshiper, now that you know who the true Messiah Jesus

of the Bible is, REPENT of your unbelief; ask Jesus to forgive

you your sins, and humbly surrender your whole life to Him. He

has promised to save you. He says, “All that the Father gives

Page 4: IT MATTERS WHAT YOU BELIEVE · D. Jesus Assures Your Eternal Life-The Life Of God. John 3:14, 16(13-21); John 6:40 14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even

Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by

no means cast out.” (John 6:37 NKJV)

2. SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE !

God Wants You Saved, Not Condemned!

“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some under-

stand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to

perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Truly, God “Wants

all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the

truth.” (2Pet. 3:9;1Tim. 2:1-4 NIV)

Nonetheless, it is crucial to understand that, if it’s God who

wants all men to be saved, then our salvation must be according

to His own terms and conditions.

My dear friend, are you sure you want to go by your Creator’s

own terms and conditions for the salvation of your soul? “What

profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own

soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

(Matt. 16:26)

A. Jesus Sets The Standard To Save Your Soul!

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so

must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him

should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the

world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes

in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did

not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that

the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him

is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned

already, because he has not believed in the name of the only

begotten Son of God.” (John 3:14-18 NKJV) [Num. 21:4-9]

B. Jesus Assures The Salvation of Your Soul!

1. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the

Father except through me.” (John 14:6 NKJV)

2. Jesus came to call sinners to repentance. “Those who are well do not need a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Matt. 9:12-13; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:1-32 NKJV)

3. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:9-10 NKJV)

4. Jesus never drives away the repentant sinner. 37. “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (John 6:37)

5. Heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents. “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety – nine just persons who need no repentance.” (Luke 15:7)

C. How Can You Be Saved (Reborn Spiritually) By Jesus? “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. (John 3:3-8)

1. You must come to Jesus. “Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28).

2. You Must Repent Of Your Sins And Surrender To Jesus “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15 NKJV)

3. You Must Believe In Jesus As Your Saviour

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and

believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not

come to judgment; but has passed from death into life.” (John

5:24) “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in

Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and

believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John

11:25 NKJV)

D. Jesus Assures Your Eternal Life-The Life Of God. John 3:14, 16(13-21); John 6:40 14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal Life.” 16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begot-ten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 6:40 “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

3. ABSOLUTE LIFE SECURITY!

SELF-PRESERVATION AND SECURITY are not issues you would ever want to joke with, at all. But, it matters what you do, or count on, to ensure your security.

In the Bible, there are three types of shepherds; one is just the owner of his own sheep, another is only a hired hand, that is, one engaged to keep and tend another person’s sheep. But, the other is the Good Shepherd, the owner and keeper of His own sheep.

Jesus The Good Shepherd Assures Life Security.

“I am the good Shepherd. The good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepher d, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.” (John 10:11-13 NKJV)

Jesus Voluntarily laid down His Life as Ransom.

“As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My Life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This is the command I have received from My Father.” (John 10:15, 17, 18)

Jesus Assures All Life Securities For His BELIEVERS AND DISCIPLES.

1. The Good Shepherd lays down His life as ransom for His sheep. John 10:11, 14-15; Matt. 20:28

2. The Good Shepherd guarantees the salvation of His sheep.

John 10:9

Page 8: IT MATTERS WHAT YOU BELIEVE · D. Jesus Assures Your Eternal Life-The Life Of God. John 3:14, 16(13-21); John 6:40 14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even

8

3. The Good Shepherd guarantees abundant life to His sheep.

John 10:10

4. The Good Shepherd guarantees provision for His sheep.

John 10:9

5. The Good Shepherd guarantees the resurrection unto life for

His sheep. John 6:37-40

6. The Good Shepherd guarantees the habitation of His sheep.

John 12:26; 14:1-3

7. The Good Shepherd guarantees absolute Protection and

Security. (John 10:27-30)

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither

shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father , who

has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one is able to snatch

them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are

one.” (John 10:27-30, NKJV)

Jesus Gives Authority Over All The Power Of Satan.

“Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scor-

pions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by

any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

Obviously, you also need the eternal security of your soul. The

Lord Jesus is the only One you can trust with all your heart, for

your everlasting security, and receive His authority to trample on

serpents and scorpions (principalities, powers, dominions,

witches, wizards, enchanters, etc.,) and over all the power of the

Devil. Jesus has guaranteed that He will not drive away anyone

His Father brings to Him. “All that the Father gives Me will

come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means

cast out. (John 6:37-40 NKJV)

Page 9: IT MATTERS WHAT YOU BELIEVE · D. Jesus Assures Your Eternal Life-The Life Of God. John 3:14, 16(13-21); John 6:40 14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even

4. HELL IS NOT YOUR DESTINY!

Hell Is Your Own Choice

Death occurs every day, but where do the souls go after death? Where will your own soul spend eternity after you have given up your present human body in death? The bible says, “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.” (Heb. 9:27-28 NKJV)

God never intended that you should end up your life in hell fire with the devil. He made you in His own image and likeness, so that you would partake of His righteousness and holiness. Death was appointed unto man only after man had, by his own free will, turned away from God to partner with the devil, the enemy of God. (Gen. 3:1-24)

Nevertheless, the very God we offended has made provision for our reconciliation with Him. He offered His own Son Jesus as the only Perfect Ransom to redeem us from condemnation and eternal hell fire; for the wages of sin is death. (John 3:14-18; Rom. 4:25; 6:23). But, we have the free choice to remain ene-mies of God and be with Satan in Hell, or REPENT and be with Jesus in Heaven. (Gen. 1:26-27; 3:1-24;1Pet. 1:18-20)

The Reality Of Hell: Revealed By Jesus.

Hell was not prepared for man, but the devil. Matt. 25:41(31-46); Rev. 20:10 (NKJV) 41. “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:” [Everlasting fire was not meant for you. Matt. 18:8, 9]

Page 10: IT MATTERS WHAT YOU BELIEVE · D. Jesus Assures Your Eternal Life-The Life Of God. John 3:14, 16(13-21); John 6:40 14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even

10

Hell is a place of unquenchable fire. Mark 9:43-48. (NKJV) 43. “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched.” 44. “Where ‘their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.”

Hell is a place of torment; without water. Luke 16:19-24; Matt. 24:42-51; 25:30 (NKJV) 22. “The rich man also died and was buried.” 23. “And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.” 24. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.”

JESUS WANTS YOU TO AVOID HELL FIRE!

a. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and be-lieves in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment; but has passed from death into life.” (John 5:24) “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoev-er lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25 NKJV)

b. ”Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matt.7:13-14)

JESUS ASSURES HEAVEN FOR HIS DISCIPLES!

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. in My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” 3. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3

Page 11: IT MATTERS WHAT YOU BELIEVE · D. Jesus Assures Your Eternal Life-The Life Of God. John 3:14, 16(13-21); John 6:40 14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even
