It’s Music Time Again!

It’s Music Time Again! is not only the theme of the next Waldwick Band concert, but is also a composition that will receive its premiere on Sunday, November 21st

2021. The first indoor performance by the Waldwick Band in over eighteen months will be held at The Village School, 100 West Prospect Street in Waldwick starting at 2:30 pm. There is no charge for admission for the performance in the school’s theater style auditorium. The new composition is by band member John Centenaro who composed it while group music activities were suspended during the breakout of the Covid-19 pandemic. Centenaro is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music where he majored in clarinet, and he has performed as a vocalist and instrumentalist with numerous North Jersey ensembles. He has previously composed and arranged for the Waldwick Band and other musical groups. Katy Holsten will be the featured instrumentalist as she performs Henry Mancini’s Moon River on the flugelhorn. Other compositions on the program lead by conductor Edmund A. Moderacki will include the Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld by Jacques Offenbach and the Divertimento for Band by Vincent Persichetti. Selections from Broadway’s The Music Man, Somewhere from Bernstein’s West Side Story and music from the James Bond movies are also on the program. Famous marches performed in the Waldwick Band’s special style will be performed Future concerts by the Waldwick Band in 2022 will be on February 6th, March 13th and May 1st, all on Sunday afternoons at The Village School.
