A REQUEST FOR SHARING I am a RN who has just completed a two-year degree at a local technical in- stitute. It took me a whole year of working as a charge nurse on the 11 PM tO 7 AM shift in a 60-bed nursing care facility before I could feel good about being a nursing home nurse. All the CEU classes I've taken seem to suggest that in order to be a real nurse you must be employed by a hospital. I recently discovered your maga- zine, Geriatric Nursing, and I am hap- py to be reading material geared toward geriatric people. A few sugges- tions have crossed my mind. I think a question and answer column or a col- umn containing comments from workers who have discovered "tricks of the trade" would be quite useful. As a result of volunteering for a sing-a- long in the nursing home, I gained a whole new perspective on resident care. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts. POLLY ROQUET, RN Maynard, 1,4 A CREDIT TO HER PROFESSION I read with interest"Mr. B. and Me" in the Nov.-Dec. 1986 issue. I would be honored to work with Lynn Assimaco- poulos, RN, BSN.
