SARDINIA - From Calaserena Village

VILLASIMIUS - Half Day The idyllic beaches and breathtaking landscape of the picturesqueformer fishing village of Villasimius attract increasing numbers of vi-sitors each summer. You can visit Fortezza Vecchia (the old fortress),which dates from the 17th century, dominates the harbour and isnow the scene of art exhibitions organized by an international artcentre. Nearby Capo Carbonara affords an lovely panoramic view ofthe sea. The area features small beaches and coves of every descrip-tion, as The Villasimius area has been declared as a marine naturepreserve, is well known among divers for its rich variety of marineflora and fauna. SAN PIETRO AND CARLOFORTE - Full DayPanoramic tour of the island and her wonderful beaches for swim-ming and snorkelling. Excellent beaches, both rocky and sandy, linethe coast of the island. Some of the cliff-top views are nothing shortof spectacular. On the other side of the island from Carloforte is afunctioning lighthouse (Capo Sandalo Lighthouse, now automated),locally known simply as 'il faro' and whose structure dates back tothe 1880s.

MATERA - “THE SASSI AND RUPESTRIAN CHURCHES - Full Day(from both hotels)Ancient habitations dug into the tuff rock of a chalky plateau openup around a hollow, with the Gravina di Matera River flowing pastthis spectacular and unique city Roofs by turns become the founda-tions for new habitations on the levels overhead. Lots of narrow stre-

ets and alleyways fill up with the lights of the evening, giving the im-pression that one is strolling through a Nativity scene of papier-mâché. This is Matera, where the Rupestrian churches andfamous Sassi – the very peculiar settlements carved into the rock –were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. A walkthrough Matera’s historic center will transport visitors back into apast long-forgotten.

ALBEROBELLO AND ITS TRULLI - Full Day (from both hotels)The “trulli”, the characteristic cone-roofed housesof Alberobello, make up one of the 47 UNESCO World Heritage Sites inItaly. The name derives from the late Greek word for dome(τρούλος; in Italian, cupola), and refers to the ancient stonehouses with conical roofs, constructed with the abundant limestonefrom the plateau of Apulia’s Murge zone. These impressive and uni-que structures, are a example of architecture that is spontaneous,yet imperishable; to this day they are still used as homes. Alberobello,an inland village of the Province of Bari, is undoubtedly the Capitalof the Trulli: its historic center is integrally constituted by these ratherparticular white, pyramidal structures that make it so famous andidentifiable.

OSTUNI - Half Day (from Torreserena Village only)The hilltop town of just over 30,000 people is well worth visiting,thanks to the beautiful scenery on all sides. The view of the city froma distance is breathtaking; the white-washed homes cap the hilltop,juxtaposed with the jagged skyline of domes and towers. Views ofthe surrounding countryside are astounding, particularly to the east,where the cliffs and beaches of the Adriatic coastline can be clearlyseen.Ostuni is known as “the White Town” because all of its buildings arepainted white, and there is no end to the beautiful architecture. Pauseto take in the stunning view from the top of Corso Vittorio Emma-nuele. If the ocean wind is too strong, you can take refuge in the ar-cheological museum or in the duomo.

CASTELLANA CAVES - Half Day (from both hotels) The caves of Castellana are by now the biggest complex of caves inItaly, and can be found in the Murgia Area. Formed during the lastmillennia thanks to the constant leakage of water through the lime-stone ground, these caves were opened to the public for the firsttime in 1939.The view that can be enjoyed during a walk through the caves (thelongest itinerary is about 3 km) is amazing: stalactites, stalagmites,little lakes, ending in the "white cave" a stunning huge, shiny andscenic room formed only of white stalactites. The "white cave" isconsidered by most of the experts to be the best in the world. Forthis reason the caves of Castellana have often been chosen as a lo-cation for movies, events and important TV shows.

GALLIPOLI 131 km - Full Day (from Grand Hotel Serena only)Gallipoli's Old Town, built on an island now connected to the mainlandby a bridge, is picturesque and a nice place to stroll through its mazeof alleys. Several interesting churches are along the perimeter of theold town facing the sea. The walls and bastions surrounding the oldtown are believed to have been built in the 15th century to fend offattacks, especially from pirates. The pretty port is still used by fishingboats and you'll see fishermen mending their colorful nets and hou-ses decorated with fishing baskets. Castello Angiono stands near theentrance to the old town. The current fortress, built on old Byzantinefortifications, probably originated in the 11th century but was alteredquite a bit in the 15th century. The Corte Gallo is a surprising littlealleyway that looks like an open-air ethnographic museum. . A sandybeach, Spiaggia della Purita, lies on one side of the old town, outsidethe walls.

CALABRIA - From Sibari Green Village and Serenè Village

SYBARIS AND “THE MAGNA GRECIA” Full Day - (From SibariGreen Village only)Sybaris was an ancient city in Magna Graecia on the western shoreof the Gulf of Taranto in the Ionian Sea, in Southern Italy. The wealthof the city during the 6th century BC was so great thatthe Sybarites became synonymous with pleasure and luxury. Themodern town of Sibari lies near the ruins of the Greek city;

POLLINO NATIONAL PARK - (From Sibari Green Village only)It was founded in 1992 and includes both natural and archaeologicalpoints of interest. The park's symbol is the Bosnian Pine, which herehas one of its last remaining growing areas in Italy. Towns with inte-resting sights include Rotonda, Castrovillari, Morano Calabro (conventof Colloreto), Laino, Castello Normannom Scalea, Papasidero, CivitaCerchiara (church of Madonna delle Armi). Albanian-speaking com-munities are present in villages such as San Paolo Albanese, San Co-stantino Albanese andd others. In the Valle del Mercure have been

discovered remains of pre-historic species such as Elephas antiquusand Hippopotamus maior.

ROSSANO AND LIQUORICE FACTORY - Full Day - (From SibariGreen Village only)Rossano looks out over the Ionian Sea….it sits in the hills filled witholive groves. Don’t be confused - there seem to be 3 very differentRossanos: The one at the sea - Lido Sant’Angelo; the inland town- Rossano Scalo; and the original old town - Rossano. Rossano isknown as the "Byzantine Pearl of Calabria"….it was a Byzantine em-pire for centuries and was the birthplace of St. Nilo (a Byzantinemonk). According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the best liquoricein the world is the one found in Calabria. In fact, in the stretch bet-ween the towns of Roseto Capo Spulico and Cariati, the Liquoriceplant grows wild, finding in the clay soils its natural habitat. In Ros-sano in 1710 the first factory for the production of liquorice was builtand today the liquorice of Rossano is exported around the world.

PIZZO CALABRO, TROPEA AND CAPO VATICANO - Full Day (fromSerenè Village only)Let's take a quick detour north to Pizzo, where Napoleon's ill-fatedbrother-in-law Joachim Murat was imprisoned and shot in 1815. Notmuch remains of the infamous castle where he was held, but thetown is picturesque, has a fine sandy beach and, for lovers of theextravagant, there is the chiesetta di Piedigrotta, a sanctuary carvedinto a grotto, with lifesize praying figures. From Pizzo we travel to-ward Briatico and Tropea. On the horizon is S. Maria dell'Isola, a lovelylittle 12th-century church set on an island-like promontory. There arestill many 16th- and 17th-century family homes here, which lookvery romantic when illuminated at night. Between Tropea and Nico-tera, especially in the areas around Parghelia and Capo Vaticano, theroad curves along high above a non-stop succession of beautiful bea-ches and interesting rocky coves, creating a coastline that many havelikened to Big Sur. The water is usually extremely clear.

THE CASTELLA - Hal Day ((from Serenè Village only)The castle was fully restored in 2001 and I visited it as part of theSIAFT (Southern Italy Agrifood and Tourism) invitation by the Chamberof Commerce of Crotone. Our guide added some great human storiesto the chronicled history.quillace in the province of Crotone To beprecised, in Isola di Caporizzuto looking out over the protected marinereserve of the same name. You don't need much imagination to seethe Aragonese soldiers locked in combat with Turkish pirates fivecenturies ago. The main structure dates back to the Angevin period.The giveaway is the cylindrical tower which juts out over the walls.Yet, the ancient Greeks did build some defensive walls in the shallowsmany years before. Pliny, in his Naturalis Historia, mentions variouslittle islands such as Dioscuri, Calipso, Tiris, Meloessa and Eranusa.These collectively may be the origin of the name Le Castella.

ADRIATIC SEA RIVIERA - From Serena Majestic Hotel

THE TRABOCCHI COAST - Full DayThe Trabocchi routes stretch from the coast at Francavilla al Mare toVasto and into the hinterland to places such as Bomba, Mozzagrognaand Filetto. The trabocchi are those characteristic huts built on stiltswhich hover above the crashing waves of the Adriatic. They wereused by local fishermen who, we guess, would practically live in themuntil they achieved a sufficient catch. The 'camosci' are the shy cha-mois deer who inhabit the Abruzzo mountains, while the final itineraryopens the visitor's eyes to regional folklore and pagan superstitionwhich is still present. What we do know is that Tollo was an Etruscansettlement before becoming occupied by the Romans, Longobards,Spanish and French. Some classical votives from the area do existin the Archaeological Museum of Chieti. Perhaps a good time to visitTollo is the first Sunday of August. The town remembers the day in1566 when the inhabitants were finally able to defeat marauding Tur-kish pirates thanks to the appearance of the Madonna del Rosario.The battle is re-enacted every year.

TREMITI ISLANDS - Full Day Approximately twelve sea miles from the Northern coast of the Gar-gano, there are three islands and a number of rock formations whichmake up the archipelago of the Tremiti islands. The Tremiti islands arenow a protected marine reserve, and with their unique environment,in the middle of the blue waters of the Adriatic sea, are the habitat ofa wealth of sea life. They are home to an ancient settlement of fisher-men who today still speak in Partenopean dialect. The Tremiti islandsare made up of the islands of San Nicola, San Domino, and Capraia,this last is uninhabited and covered in Mediterranean vegetation.

1. Your Travel Booking Whether you or your travel agent book we will only deal with the lead boo-king name in all subsequent correspondence, including changes, amen-dments and cancellations. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracyof the personal details or any other information supplied in respect of your-self and any other person travelling on the booking and for passing on anyinformation regarding the booking or any changes made in relation the-reto, to all persons travelling on such booking, including but not limited toinformation on schedule changes or copies of booking confirmations. The contractual terms of Our Agreement apply between you and us be-cause you have chosen a Package Holiday with us (hereafter, a “holiday”)which is a ‘package’ within the meaning of The Package Travel, PackageHolidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 and will enjoy the benefitsconferred by it. We may transfer your booking to another company withinour group, but this will have no effect on your holiday arrangements. Air Passenger Duty, which is payable by all passengers departing from UKairports, is included in the final price of your holiday.

2. The Price You Pay All prices we advertise are accurate at the date published, but we reservethe right to change any of those prices from time to time. Prices includea cost for fuel that was estimated at the date of this publication. We re-serve the right to add a fuel supplement to holiday prices should this in-crease after the date of this publication. Prices can go up or down. We willbe able to tell you or your travel agent the up-to-date price of your chosentravel arrangements and of any other services advertised by us beforeconfirming your booking. We reserve the right to increase the price of yourholiday after you have booked but no later than 30 days before the de-parture date stipulated and will forward an Amendment Invoice reflectingany changes made. After a Confirmation Invoice has been sent to you, anyincrease to your holiday price will be as the result of changes in our costsof supplying your holiday resulting from transportation charges, (fuel, air-port charges, scheduled air fares and other transport charges which formpart of our contract with the transport provider), currency fluctuations andgovernment action.If the increase is more than 10% of the holiday price (calculated as above),then You may cancel your holiday booking within 14 days of the Amen-dment Invoice date and receive a refund of all monies paid to us, we willonly consider an appropriate refund of insurance premium paid if you canshow us that you are unable to transfer or reuse your policy; and

3. If We Change Or Cancel Your Holiday Before Your DepartureWe hope and expect to be able to provide you with all the services wehave confirmed to you at the time of booking. If we have to make a signi-ficant change or cancel, we will tell you as soon as possible. If there istime to do so before departure, we will offer you the choice of the followingoptions:1. Accepting the changed arrangements (for significant changes).2. Purchasing an alternative holiday from us, of a similar standard to

that originally booked if available. 3. Cancelling or accepting the cancellation in which case you will

receive a full and quick refund of all monies you have paid to us.

Important Note – Events Beyond Our Control Events beyond our control include: war, threat of war, riots, civil distur-bances, terrorist activity and its consequences, industrial disputes, naturaland nuclear disasters, fire, epidemics, health risks and pandemics, una-voidable and unforeseeable technical problems with transport for reasonsbeyond our control or that of our suppliers; closed or congested airportsor ports, hurricanes and other actual or potential severe weather condi-tions, and any other similar events.

In February 2005 a new Europe-wide law relating to denied boarding, de-lays and cancellation of flights came into force. This law granted rights topassengers including in certain circumstances the right to cancel theirflight and receive reimbursement of the cost of the flight from their airline.Full details of these rights is publicised at EU airports and is also availablefrom affected airlines. However, you should note that reimbursement ofthe cost of a flight that forms part of your holiday is the responsibility ofyour holiday airline and will not automatically entitle you to reimbursementof the cost of your holiday from us.

4. What Happens To Holiday Complaints We can usually sort out any complaints you may have. But if we cannotagree, All disputes arising from this contract will be settled by the Courtof Rome - Italy who will exercise sole and final judgement thereupon.

5. Your Financial ProtectionThe Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations1992 require us to provide security for the monies that you pay for thepackage holidays booked from us and for your repatriation in the event ofour insolvency. We provide this security by way of a bond hold by UnipolInsurance 4131632/A.

6. Our Responsibility For Your Holiday We will arrange for you to receive the services that make up the holidaythat you choose and that we confirm. These services will be provided ei-ther directly by us or through independent suppliers contracted by us. Weare responsible for making sure that each part of the holiday you bookwith us is provided to a reasonable standard and as was advertised by us(or as changed and accepted by you). We have taken all reasonable care to make sure that all the services whichmake up your holiday advertised by us are provided by efficient and re-putable businesses. These businesses should follow local standards. Ho-wever, overseas safety standards are generally lower than in the UK, forexample few hotels yet meet EC fire safety recommendations even in Eu-rope.

7. Personal Injury If you or someone on your holiday booking is injured, falls ill or dies whiletaking part in an activity which is not part of the holiday, or you need toincur unpredictable extra expenses for which we are not liable becausethe event is beyond our control (see 'Important Note – Events Beyond OurControl') you will be protected by, Insurance: 4131632/A Navale Insu-rance.

8. Your Contract By asking us or your travel agent to confirm your booking, you are accep-ting on behalf of all persons travelling on this booking that the terms ofthis Agreement, which incorporate the information, restrictions and obli-gations and the conditions of any terms and conditions of carriage – seeConditions of Your Ticket – constitute the entire agreement between uswith regard to your booking and your travel arrangements. You also con-sent to our processing personal information about you and other membersof your party. Where the context permits, reference to “you” and “your”will include you and all persons travelling on this booking. Foro competenteIt is a condition of booking that you and all members of your party providecertain information that may be sent to governmental authorities and bor-der control and security agencies for the purpose of security and counterterrorism. This is known as Advanced Passenger Information, sometimesknown as APIS. The information you must provide will include, but not belimited to, full name - as shown in your passport or travel document, gen-der, date of birth, travel document type, number, country of issue and ex-piry date, and for travel to the United States, your country of residenceand the address for your first night’s stay.

10. Paying For Your Travel Arrangements You will be required to pay a deposit to us for each person when you book.The deposit amount will be specified by us or your travel agent when yourbooking is made. Please note your booking deposit may be increased orthere may be a charge payable for some accommodation, holidays or flightbookings where it is necessary to secure specific facilities with full pay-ment at the time of booking e.g. weddings, coach touring and specifictypes of airline tickets. Within two weeks of booking, we will send you aConfirmation Invoice showing how much you owe us. You must pay theamount on the last Invoice issued by us, at least 30 days before you goon holiday. If you don’t, we reserve the right to treat your booking as can-celled and to charge you a cancellation charge up to 100% of the total onthat last Invoice. If you pay money for your booking to a travel agent ap-pointed by us, they will hold that money as our agent from the time theyreceive it until they pay the money to us. If your payment is made by creditcard a fee will apply, please check fee at time of booking. We do not acceptpersonal cheques, only building society and bankers' drafts will be accep-ted.

11. If You Change Your Booking You must ensure all names and details are entered correctly at the timeof booking. You will receive an invoice once your booking is confirmed andmust contact us straight away if there is something that you need to cor-rect, or if you don’t receive an invoice within 7 days of confirming yourbooking. Amendments to correct passenger name misspellings will becharged an amendment fee.

You may transfer your booking to another person, providing the followingconditions are met: - You authorise the change in writing - The new lead passenger accepts the transfer and the terms of Our Agree-ment - That person complies with the terms of the existing booking- That person has valid holiday insurance – you cannot transfer your ho-liday insurance to the new lead passenger. We’ll charge amendment fees to change a name on a booking outside 14

days to departure; these will be added to the new invoice. The new leadpassenger, and you should they fail to pay, will be responsible for the pay-ment of any balance due on that new invoice.We charge an ‘Amendment Fee’ for each detail of your booking we allowyou to change.Please bear in mind that certain airlines and other transport providers treatchanges as a cancellation and charge accordingly, up to 100% of the costfor that part of the arrangement. Where applicable these charges will bepassed on to you.When changing your holiday details, the price of your new travel arrange-ments will be based on the price that applies on the day you make thechange. These prices may not be the same as when you first made yourbooking.

12. If You Cancel Your BookingIf you want to cancel your booking, or part of it, you must contact us assoon as possible. If you have made your booking through a Travel Agency,your agent must advise us of your request to cancel. Once your bookinghas been cancelled you can expect to receive a cancellation invoice within14 days. If you don’t please contact us.

To cover the cost of processing your cancellation, and to compensate usfor the risk that we may not be able to resell your travel arrangements,we’ll make a cancellation charge on the scale shown below. You are re-sponsible for paying this charge.

Guide To Our Cancellation Charges These charges are based on how many days before your booked departurewe receive your cancellation notice, and are a percentage of the total costof your booking, not including your insurance premium. If you want to can-cel one or more passengers on the booking you’ll have to pay a proportionof the applicable cancellation charge for those passengers.

13. If You Have A Complaint If you have a complaint about your arrangements whilst away, you mustimmediately notify the supplier of the service in question locally. If theyare unable to resolve the problem immediately, and a member of our staffis not available, you should contact us straight away by phone/fax/emailand we will endeavour to assist. If you are still not satisfied on your returnhome, you must write to our After Travel Customer Support, within 10 daysof returning from your holiday to allow your complaint to be investigatedproperly. Please write your holiday reference number on your letter, andinclude your daytime and evening telephone numbers. If you do not giveus the opportunity to resolve any problem locally by reporting it to the sup-plier, or calling and informing us, then we may not be able to deal positivelywith any complaint on your return.

14. The Conditions Of Your Ticket When you travel by air or by sea, your journey may be subject to certaininternational conventions such as the Warsaw Convention, Montreal Con-vention or Athens Convention. You agree that the transport company’s own‘Conditions of Carriage’ will apply to you on that journey. When arrangingthis transportation for you, we rely on the terms and conditions containedwithin these international conventions and those ‘Conditions of Carriage'.You acknowledge that all of these terms and conditions form part of yourcontract with us as well as with the transport company. You can ask us orthe travel agent booking your holiday to provide you with a copy of any ofthe conditions applicable to your journey. The airline's terms and condi-tions are available on request , We will tell you the identity of the air carrierwhen you book with us and if it is not known at that time or subsequentlychanges we will inform you as soon as possible and no later than at check-in for your flight.
