PACE PATH

A PLAN FOR SUCCESS: The Pace Path combines academic and real-world experiences through purposeful planning and mentoring to guide all undergraduate students toward becoming successful leaders in their fields.
Students work with faculty from their first day and begin to consider possible career paths in CRJ 150: Introduction to Criminal Justice
All CRJ Faculty have practical field experience
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with faculty for academic and career advisement.

CRJ Society, our student club, holds bi-weekly meetings and events
Events expose students to different areas of the CJ System,
especially career paths not normally considered - i.e., the
BOP, FBI, DEA, US Marshalls, The Postal Service Investigative Division, Sheriff, NYPD, Domestic Violence Shelters, CBOs for the Formerly Incarcerated, the DA’s Office, etc.
At least 6 guest speakers per semester. CRJ Society Members Guest Speaker Daisy
Students attend field trips to enhance classroom learning
Students visit the courts, 9/11 museum, jails, prisons, police stations, etc.
Students participate in charity eventsLifers Group – East Jersey State Prison (Formerly Rahway)
Students travel for ten days to explore criminal justice systems in other countries- i.e., Ireland, Italy, etc.

Students gain practical field experience through internships and co-ops – i.e., the NYPD, DA’s Office, Sheriff’s Division, US Probation, DOI, US Marshals, Rikers, etc.

Students attend a specialized Criminal Justice Career fair yearly to prepare for internships and future careers
Resume and Interviewing workshops offered before the fair

Research Methods – Students are focused on writing
Students complete their own research project

Students in CRJ 331, on both campuses, help to deliver a parenting course to female prisoners: Parenting, Prison & Pups
Students work closely with the Good Dog FoundationNicholas Terrett, CRJ Student, MCC Annalyse Lyons & Jun Woo Moon
Students have the opportunity to serve as research assistants and attend conferences
