Open Day Assembly Thank you to the many parents and family members who accepted our invitation to attend Kandos Public School’s Open Day and Assembly yesterday. Students and staff are always excited when given an opportunity to have their school, their classrooms and their work on display for the community. Key themes of Education Week for 2019 were:- Every Student, Every Voice, Connecting Communities, Authentic Participation, Respectful Relationships, Change Makers and Partners in Learning. During the Assembly, students performed the song ‘This is Me’ from the movie, The Greatest Showman. It was a beautiful rendition of a heart warming song that carries the message of resilience, being brave and bold and accepting yourself. Nominated students also came to the stage during the assembly to perform individual acts for our audience. Both the group and individual performances showcased our talented students. They were all bright lights exhibiting a positive outlook. They are our change makers of the future. The Assembly also provided Kandos Public School with the opportunity to acknowledge individuals within our community with awards. On behalf of the staff and students, I was proud to announce these awards and to thank recipients for their outstanding commitment and continued support of the Kandos and Rylstone area. Our Education Week celebrations will continue next Wednesday, 14th August, with all students participating in Creative Enrichment Workshops and a Tabloid sports afternoon. Some of the workshops on offer include Jewellery Making, Fitness, Felting, Technology, Collage, Cooking and Golf. SPORTS REPORT Athletics Carnival A very successful Athletics Carnival was held at the Kandos Sportsground in perfect weather conditions last Thursday, 1st August. Congratulations to all our participants for ’having a go’, doing your best and for showing support and encouragement for your houses at this sporting event. Age Champions will be announced at our End of Term / Whole School Assembly. Thirty students will now go on to compete at the Zone Athletics Carnival to be held in Mudgee on Friday, 16th August.

PSSA Boys Touch Football On Monday, 5th August, nine students from Primary competed in the P.S.S.A Boys Touch Football Knockout against Dunedoo Central School. Unfortunately, the boys went down in a tough game against a strong side from Dunedoo. Kandos fielded a very young side with valuable experience being gained for many members of our team. The boys are to be commended on their sportsmanship and their efforts on the day. Well done to Zachary Sack who scored our only try on the day.
