Where did ITUG come from?

• Founded in 1978 as the Tandem Users Group (TUG) run by Tandem

• Became independent from Tandem in 1983• Strong working relationship with Tandem,

Compaq, and HP through out the years• ITUG serves as a feedback channel on product

& services issues• ITUG serves as a line-of-sight communications

channel to customers• ITUG provides credibility to HP message to

customers through independent status

• Mission: • ITUG's mission is to serve as the catalyst for advocacy,

information sharing, and education among HP and the global NonStop community.

• Organizational Structure:• Volunteer Board of Directors (10) comprised of NonStop

users and vendors functions to determine ITUG’s long-term strategic direction.

• Headquarters staff provides services for the day-to-day operations of ITUG and execution of its long-term strategic plan.

Regional User Groups

• ITUG has over 25 Regional User Groups (RUGS) throughout the world. RUGS serve as a resource for ITUG members to make important contacts they need to stay connected with new developments on the local level. For a complete list of regional use groups events along with direct links for more information on each group visit the RUG section on the ITUG Web site.

• In 2007 there were more than 75 RUG meetings worldwide with approximately 2,000 attendees.

Regional User Groups

• ITUG and HP support the RUGS with these resources:

• Training support classes from HP • Assistance with meeting agenda planning• Assistance in identifying vendors to support and participate in your

meeting• Provide Web site hosting and support• ITUG and HP promotional products and publications

Special Interest Groups

• SIGs are charged with:• Discussing problems and issues within their areas of special interest• Providing information to members and HP on a regular basis• Serving not only as a forum for members to learn from each other but

also as a strong voice to HP on member needs.• HP recently assigned Product Managers to support each SIG

• There are 11 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that are actively driving dialogue to help advance the NonStop community• Consultant SIG• Business Continuity SIG• Operations Management SIG• Telecom SIG• Security and Audit SIG• The Open SIG• NonStop SQL SIG• Performance SIG

User Group Leadership Council

BACKGROUND:• Current group convened November 2006• Common purpose and common challenges have brought the groups closer• Global calls twice per quarter and 1-2 face to face meetings per year• Collaborative initiatives and committees

Accomplishments:• ITUG and Encompass collaborate with HP on HPTF&E in June 2007• Common mission and value statement created • Cross posting of User Group logo’s and links between ITUG, Encompass,

and Vivit • Calendar Sharing • Sharing of membership marketing strategies

Initiatives: • Joint Encompass/ITUG scholarship program• Global user group newsletter targeted at the HP audience world wide• Analysis of Virtual Tradeshow (VTS) technology• Sharing HP contacts globally• Develop a collaborative joint regional user group model and

implementation plan for regions that have a weak user group presence

Recent Positives

• Cost-Efficiency review to ensure that ITUG members are receiving optimal ROI

• Governance review to enhance ITUG’s organizational model

• Revamped SIG offerings to better meet the needs of the NonStop community

• Strategic marketing to enhance ITUG’s marketing communications programs

• Addition of staff to enhance educational programs and services to better meet the needs of ITUG’s members

• Successful co-location with HPTF&E
