The Daily range is powered by a selection of powerful yet fuel efficient engines that meet either Euro 5 or even more stringent Euro 6 emission standards.

Emission control on Euro 5 variants is achieved via an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine’s exhaust gases back into the engine cylinders where it dilutes oxygen in the incoming airstream, providing the gases that are to combust and absorb heat reducing in cylinder temperatures, reducing levels of nitrogen oxide.

Euro 6-rated models employ a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system that uses a urea solution such as Adblue to treat the exhaust gases. This process results in even lower exhaust gases including nitrogen oxide, hydrocarbons and particulate matter.

Adblue is widely available at petrol stations and can also be purchased at transport outlets. As a guide, the Adblue tank will need to be refilled approximately every seven or eight tanks of fuel.

A number of engine options are available across the Daily van range based on two core direct injection 2.3 and 3.0 litre diesel powerplants – all deliver market-leading power and torque output.

Engine options include:

• Euro 5, 2.3l, 4-cylinder direct injection turbodiesel producing 126 hp (94kW) and 320Nm

• Euro 5, 3.0l, 4-cylinder direct injection turbodiesel (VGT) producing 170 hp (126kW) and 430Nm

• Euro 5, 3.0l, 4-cylinder direct injection turbodiesel (Twin Stage Turbo) producing 205 hp (153kW) and 470Nm (market leading power)

• Euro 6, 3.0l, 4-cylinder direct injection turbodiesel (VGT) producing 180 hp (134kW) and 430Nm (available for Daily 70C only)

Depending on the application and driver preference, Daily owners can choose between a 6-speed synchromesh double overdrive manual transmission, or the market-leading 8-speed ‘Hi-Matic’ full automatic.
