Professor Josic performed pioneering work in development of protein separation, especially on separation of membrane proteins and other glycoproteins by use of different compatible chromatographic supports. Two early publications about the use of monolithic supports (this time still called “membranes”) for separation of serum and membrane proteins as well as fast enzymatic conversion of low- and macromolecular substrates were cited for about 200 times. Already this time, the use of monolithic supports for very fast chromatographic separations and enzymatic conversion in seconds was discovered. Prof. Josic continued working on applications of monoliths for preparative separation of therapeutic proteins and membrane glycoproteins. Recent work was focused on proteomic and glycomic investigations, and high-throughput isolation of high- and low abundant proteins from complex biological mixtures, such as serum, plasma, food and microbial samples, and development of label-free quantitative proteomics. Professor Josic is editor and member of the editorial board of several peer-reviewed journals, and has published more than 170 scientific papers and more than 20 patents.
