STD 7- BIOLOGY ASSIGNMENT

Health and hygiene is very important. We cannot deny the role they play, especially in today’s context when we are

confined in our homes because of the Corona Virus. So, dear children, it’s time to make use of all the information you

have gathered to make your Biology assignment according to the specifications given below.

1. Use 5 interleaved Biology sheets

2. A black shoelace to be used to tie them together.

3. First Bio- sheet --- should be the cover page of your assignment with your name and class on the lower right

hand corner. The rest of that sheet must be used to write the topic “COVID-19- Health and Hygiene.” It should

be written in capital bold letters with any font that you prefer.

4. Second Bio-sheet --- from this sheet onwards till the last one you will start your work based on the subheadings

given below. Each subheading should be written in capital letters and underlined. To be able to write what is

asked you have to do some online research work. For each subheading you are expected to answer the

questions/ elaborate on the key words that follow.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMMUNICABLE and NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE- Explain with a few examples.

COVID -19 What is it? Why is it named so? Why is it called ‘Novel’ Corona virus? Why Covid-19?

(explain the significance of the underlined parts) Where and when was its outbreak

reported first? Why was there a need to refer to it as ‘pandemic’.

TRANSMISSION OF THE VIRUS- Who is responsible in spreading the virus? What is its incubation period?

A very brief account of its structure and how does it function if it enters our body. Kinds of surfaces affected by

the virus.

EXTENT OF TRANSMISSION - Countries where its effect is most ( with data or graph from newspaper or any

other source) States in India where its effect is most. Can the condition be more serious?

SYMPTOMS – Explain in detail. Which age group can be easily attacked by the virus?

STEPS TO AVOID INFECTION AND REDUCE ITS TRANSMISSION – write in points

ROLE OF WHO – steps taken by the World Health Organisation in spreading awareness.

A POSITIVE FEELING – even though it is a difficult for the entire world, state something new that you learnt or

you did during your ‘stay at home’ period’

5. On the blank sheets you must stick relevant pictures and graphs to depict the information collected by you. Be

sure to write the proper caption and draw a proper border around the picture pasted.
