Many new and exciting slot machines have been added to our casino in the last few months.

We are always getting requests for more penny games so we said OK, let’s bring them in.

We removed 33 nickel games from “Jackson Riches” (not to worry for you Jackson Riches players as there are still 50 games to choose from) and added all penny games from four different manufacturers. The list of game themes is too big to mention but next time you are in check them out. I am sure that there will be one to your liking.

We also brought in six new penny games from a new manufacturer that we have never used before. These games are in Dalton Town Hall close to the ATM center. There are two types - Shen Long and Wild Hunter Tiger - that seem to be popular.

If you like BIG things then check out our two new Jumbo machines in the lobby area.

We have a penny jumbo called Pirate Beach that has a four level progressive and right across from it we have a dollar Bonus Times Pay.

We talked

about BIG, but if small strikes your fancy then check out our two-cent reel Slingo machines. We have three of them by nickel Wheel of Fortune.

S p e a k i n g of Wheel of Fortune, how about a poker machine with a wheel just like the one on Wheel of Fortune? That’s right we have two quarter poker wheel machines and if you play six coins and hit four-of-a-kind you get to spin the wheel (sorry the wheel

spin doesn’t count for the Four Natural Sevens promotion).

Over by the food court we have seven interesting new games called “Multi Play.” These are penny machines where you can play your favorite game up to four times simultaneously on the same machine, which gives you four times the jackpot and four times the fun.

I didn’t forget our dollar players. We have ten new stand-alone dollar progressive machines in Dalton Town Hall right by the dollar Wheel of Fortune. Check out “Pink Diamonds.”

With all these new machines to choosefromyouaresuretofindyourlucky one.

We recently received the following from 79-year-old Norman in Stockton, one of our regular table game players, who asked that we share it with everyone.

These two brothers greet the table customers with joy and enthusiasm while at Jackson Rancheria.

They always try to make your visit pleasant and your day enjoyable in every way. The two brothers are Dusty Delap (Pit Boss), employed here for over 15 years, and his brother Russell Delap (Floor Supervisor), employed for eight years and training to become a Pit Boss.

What I have admired from these two gentlemen are the following:

• Try to address each person by name• Dress smartly• Shake hands with a few, encouraging

conversation with customers• Take care of problem areas

immediately• Call for service for drinks and new

items of interest from servers• Take care of dealer problems• Change cards when necessary• Voice good luck and happiness with

class for customers who enjoy the table games

My daughter usually greets me on the phone by saying “Are you going to your second home today?” meaning am I heading up to Jackson to gamble for the day, for the

Brothers greet guests with joy and enthusiasm

third time this week? These two gentlemen make a person

feel truly at home, and make you feel as if you are a brother of the Rancheria group.

It’s not the money that keeps me coming back, but the true friendship of the people of this caliber. When I get ready to venture home, I truly say to myself “I will see you both again soon.”

Congratulations to both brothers for being excellent employees at Jackson Rancheria and being one of the driving forces that brings people wanting to come back to their home away from home. I sure hope that the person in charge of these two young men realizes what great employees and gentlemen they are, and respects them to the fullest.

Respectfully submitted,Norman from Stockton

Pit Boss Dusty Delap greets Norman from Stockton.

Oliver and Robin Bray established Bray Vineyards in 1996. The land had no roads or utilities and consisted only of grass, cattle, and oak trees.

Everyweekend of those first few years,Oliver and Robin would drive back and forth from their home in Martinez to shape the land to their vision.

They terraced the hills behind the winery to control erosion and allow the planting of vines. They removed huge boulders as they carefully prepared the land for their firstplantingsofZinfandelandSangiovese vines.

They carefully preserved the seasonal creek that runs across the property, allowing the majestic oaks that line the banks to provide shelter for the hawks and owls that protect the vineyard from rodents.

By 2001, Bray Vineyards was supplying Zinfandel and Sangiovese grapes to well known local wineries like Vino Noceto and Montevina-Terra de Oro and making a name for themselves and their grapes.

But Oliver and Robin had bigger plans. They wanted to open their own winery. So, just as they had applied themselves to farming, they now applied themselves to learning about wine making. From harvest to fermentation, from bottling to the tasting room to retail sales, they immersed themselves in the science and the lore of wineries.

In 2004, they brought in John Hoddy as their new winemaker and by April Bray Vineyards opened its doors to the public for thefirsttime.

TheirfirsthitwasthewhimsicallynamedBrayZin Hussy Red. A blend of Zinfandel and Sangiovese that was pleasant and easy drinking. Normally, Bray wines have a very restrained label in black and gold but, being

true to her nature, the BrayZin Hussy won’t playthewallflower.

The Brays expanded their vineyard by adding new types of grapevines. Concentrating on varieties that would not only please the customers, but would also show off the varietals that grew best in the Shenandoah Valley climate. Bray Vineyards grows 18 varieties of grapes on their estate.

With the introduction of the Spanish and Portuguese varietals to the vineyard, Bray Vineyards has fully embraced a future that features the uncommon (at least in the U.S.) flavors of Iberian grapes and wines.Expanding the market for wines made from grapes such as Tempranillo (considered Spain’s Noble grape) and Portugal’s Verdelho

(a white grape that truly loves the Foothill summer heat) is important to the Brays because they want to share the joy of a new and different wine experience with their buyers and visitors.

Recently, Bray Vineyards has received attention from critics with their Barbera wines. Their 2004 Barbera won Best of Class award at the 2007 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and their 2006 Barbera Rosato (a rose of Barbera) won the Gold Medal and Best of Show award at the 2007 Amador County Fair to cap off gold medals from events such as the Central Valley

Wine Competition, Grand Harvest Awards, National Women’s Wine Competition, and the Orange County Wine Competition.

The most recent addition to the Bray line is a natural companion to both the wine and the land itself. Bray Vineyard’s Estate Grown Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from six varieties of olives grown on the property. Lucca, Frantoio, Manzanillo, Mission and Leccino are cold pressed to extract only the best, highest quality portion of the oil.

Bray Vineyards is located at 10590 Shenandoah Road in Plymouth. Call 209-245-6023 or visit brayvineyards.com. The tasting room is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Monday.

Shuttle Driver Mary Owen vividly remembers the first time she met TribalChairperson Margaret Dalton, and the lasting impression that meeting had on her.

“I had only been here about three months when Margaret Dalton came in for a meeting. I introduced myself and said I worked in Transportation. She said ‘I know who you are Mary. How are you doing? How are you being treated? How are your kids?’ I think about that every day, how she treated me and how special she made me feel.”

“And that’s how we should treat our guests every day. Make every guest feel recognized, special, appreciated. She cared about every one here and we need to carry that through every day.”

Mary is a prime example of guest service Rancheria Style®. She knows that guests come back here because we know who they are and that we appreciate their being here.

“Winning is a bonus,” she adds. “Being treated well is what it’s all about.”

Mary was born in Los Angeles and lived in the Bay Area for 14 years. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Menlo Park she got a degree in social sciences from the College of San Mateo with plans to become a teacher.

She taught pre-school and developmentally disabled adults and moved to this area 24 years ago.

“I was having children and wanted them to be able to be children. I wanted a place where it was safe for them to go out and not come home until dinner and not have to worry about them.”

After working at several different teaching jobs, she decided she wanted to do something different.

“I was out of work and a friend said you like to drive why don’t you get a job driving. I trained for school bus driving but they are out of work so much,” she explains.

Then someone suggested she try Jackson Rancheria and she got lucky, walked right into a job in Transportation, where she’s worked for over nine years.

She’s seen a lot of changes in that time. She’s shuttled employees to parking at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, the Italian Picnic Grounds, and various lots on the Rancheria. She shuttles guests between the Casino, Hotel, and RV Park as well as taking children from the child care center to and from Sutter Creek Elementary School. And she often works community events, when Jackson Rancheria donates the use of its shuttles.

“This job is not for everyone,” she adds, “but I love it. I love the guest interaction.”

She makes a point to know about the local area and local events so she can tell guests other things going on in the community.

Mary knows that making people feel like Margaret Dalton once made her feel is what truly makes Jackson Rancheria a special place.
