CCEDC’s 22nd Annual Meeting is a Hit! The Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation’s (CCEDC) 22nd annual meeting was

held on May 19, 2017 on the main stage at the Chippewa Valley Music Festival grounds in Cadott!

The CCEDC was honored to host country music star Darryl Worley who provide the breakfast

business presentation and entertained attendees with a

few of his hits songs, “I Miss My Friend” and “Have You

Forgotten?” Worley’s business message brought together

the music venue with business growth and development,

entrepreneurism, and a moving forward message;

touching on what business lessons he picked up via his

music career - the importance of listening – practice

creates continuous improvement– knowing when to lead,

when to back-up – valuing the past and embracing the

future – the importance of diversifying.

Following Worley, Governor Scott Walker, Wisconsin's

45th and current Governor addressed attendees

providing a positive statement on Wisconsin’s business

climate and the continuous growth the State has seen.

Walker took the opportunity to thank the businesses in

attendance for this improvement.

CCEDC also used the occasion to recognize outgoing

board members: Scott Dorn of Spectrum Industries who

served as a CCEDC Board Member 2012-2017; Ron

Bruder of Applied Data Consultants who served on the

CCEDC Board 2015-2017; and Tom Vandehey who

served as a CCEDC board member 2016-2017. The

following new members were elected to the CCEDC board of directors: Ryan Hartzell of Citizens

Connected as the Chippewa County Representative for a 3 year term; Maureen Carlson of Hoeft

our outgoing board members and welcome the new members to the CCEDC Board of Directors.

where the CCEDC acknowledged businesses,

entrepreneurs, construction industry leaders, and

economic development partners in Chippewa County.

The CCEDC annual meeting hosted over 400 business

leaders, investors and elected officials and adjourned to

the Mills Fleet Farm Groundbreaking in the Lake

business leaders, and guests were in attendance.

“We are very committed to local growth,” said Mills Fleet Farm CEO Wayne Sales. “This new distribution center is a cornerstone of the recent economic development in Chippewa Falls.”

Governor Scott Walker also in attendance said, “This scale of development is great news for Chippewa Falls, for Chippewa County and the surrounding areas, and for Wisconsin.”

Mills Fleet Farm’s distribution center represents a significant economic investment in the Chippewa Falls area. It will create an estimated 325 jobs over the next five years, facilitate growth of future retail stores, and drive more than $60 million in capital investment in Chippewa Falls. The groundbreaking represents the first step in a project likely to greatly impact the entire Chippewa Valley and demonstrates local community and statewide excitement.

“You don’t have an opportunity like a project of this scope come along often,” said Mayor Hoffman. “It can have a significant impact on the whole Chippewa Valley.”

“People are already calling our office to find out how they can put their job application in,” said Charlie Walker, President and CEO of the CCEDC. “It really is a great time to live, work, play and do business in Chippewa Falls.”

DHL Supply Chain, the market-leading third-party logistics provider, will manage the distribution center for Mills Fleet Farm. Hiring is expected to begin in late 2017 for more than 250 jobs that will be available for the Chippewa Falls distribution center’s start-up.

Ryan Companies, the design/builder for the project, expects construction to be completed by the 2017/2018 winter, with an anticipated opening in 2018.

“We are pleased to provide an economic solution for Mills Fleet Farm with the construction of this new distribution center,” said Casey Hankinson, SVP of Build-to-Suit Ryan Companies US, Inc. “The construction of this project is more than the delivery of a building; it means job creation and business growth that will positively impact not only the Mills Fleet Farm business, but the City of Chippewa Falls and the State of Wisconsin. A positive impact to the customer and the community in which we build is what we strive for on each project here at Ryan.”

The CCEDC, Chippewa County, and the City of Chippewa Falls worked in a concerted effort to bring this exciting project to Chippewa County and we welcome Mills Fleet Farm to our community.
