The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me

in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley

of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me;

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the

presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest

my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life:

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

The family of Mr. Lavern Shaw wishes to express their sincere appreciation and

gratitude to everyone for the many acts of kindness, concern, and love extended

to them during the passing of their beloved “Bun”.

May God Bless you and keep you.

The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my

life: of whom shall I be afraid? Wait on the Lord; be of good courage and He shall

strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 27: 1 & 14

On Friday morning, September 29, 2017, at his residence in Columbia,

South Carolina, God called home to rest one of his brave soldiers.

Mr. Lavern Shaw, son of Margaret Shaw and the late Arthur Shaw, was

born August 25, 1956, in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Lavern,

affectionately known as “Bun”, received his formal education in the

public schools of Stamford, Connecticut and Columbia, South Carolina.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was

baptized at Brookland Baptist Church Northeast in Columbia.

He was a self-employed painter for 40 years. He used his talent to create

beautiful, flawless work.

Left to cherish precious memories and special times are his devoted

brother, Arthur “Artie” Shaw, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; three

loving sisters: Joan (Jerry) Frazier of Beaufort, South Carolina,

Gwendolyn (Randolph) Canzater of Columbia, South Carolina, and

Denise “Niecy” Shaw of Charlotte, North Carolina; three caring sons:

Duane (Monica) Kohn, Sr., Barry (Vonda) Aiken and Leverne Delorean

Shaw; two affectionate daughters, Ebony Keywana Shaw and Rolanda

Coleman, all of Columbia, South Carolina. He also leaves to mourn his

passing seven adoring grandchildren: Duane Kohn, Jr., Duante Kohn,

Dalonte Kohn, Bayli Michea Aiken, Lorean Mckenzie Shaw, Zaria Young,

and Zevin Young; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,

grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and dear friends.

By Ron Tranmer

We didn’t know that morning,

God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.

You did not go alone.

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,

Your love is still our guide.

And although we cannot see you,

You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one,

The chain will link again.
