Increase green transportation and mass transportation

Increase the share of passenger transportation by rail from

18% in 2009 to 22% in 2013 and 26% in 2020

Increase the overall share of the mass transit from the current 50%

to 55% by 2013 and 65% by 2020

Increase the volume borne by bike transport to 5% by 2013 and

10% by 2020

Offer public bike rental service and expand national bike road

networks

Among transportations, the total energy consumption of rail

was about 2% in 2007.

In passenger section, the specific CO2 emission of rail was

2/7 and 1/4 compared with road and domestic air,

respectively.

In freight section, the specific CO2 emission of rail was 2/7

and 1/37 compared with road and domestic air, respectively.

COCO22 emission in Korean Railroademission in Korean Railroad

Total CO2 emission in Korean railroad was 2,383 thousands ton in 2008, which

decreased about 1.1% compared with the level of 2005.

About 80% of CO2 emission was caused by the energy consumption during

railcar operation in 2008.

In the recent, the fuel source of railcar has been substituted diesel into electricity.
