he grand finale of the All-India Beau-ty Pageants First Miss India’21 and First Miss India Teen’21 was held at Novotel Dona
Sylvia Resort, Goa on Saturday, 30 October. Many celebrities and dignitaries graced the mega-event. Jagdeesh Chandra and Bolly-wood celebrity Hina Khan crowned the win-ners during the cere-mony. The First Miss India 2021 title was bagged by Pearl Agar-wal with Lekh Utaiah as 1st runner up and Shreya Gupta as the
2nd runner up while Rayna Sikri was de-
clared as the First Miss In-dia Teen 2021 with Shubhi Dhaneta as 1st runner up and Mrunmayi Barve as the 2nd runner up.
The scintillating evening in the mesmerising land of picturesque beaches began by welcoming Jagdeesh Chandra, the man who made it possible for every young girl to dream big with confidence so that she may reach greater heights. Fa-mous anchor Simran Ahuja
set the mood swinging by introducing the finalists of the First Miss India’21 and First Miss India Teen’21.
“A show of such magni-tude wouldn’t have been possible without the sup-port of show directors,” said Simran, while intro-ducing Gaurav Gaur and Ashok Singh.
Supermodel and influ-encer Hina Khan, celebrity Fashion Designer Ken Ferns, Actress, VJ and su-permodel Deepti Gujral, Supermodel and Miss Uni-verse India 2015 first run-ner up Natasha Assadi and Editor, First India Anita Hada were present as the jury on the occasion.
Indian fashion and com-mercial photographer Dab-boo Ratnani couldn’t make it to the event as he tested positive for Covid-19. We thank him for his sense of
responsibility and care. The models walked the
runway and introduced themselves. Showstoppers Akansha Bhalla and Swati Jangid aced the ramp walk wearing Ashfaque Ahmed, showcasing the de-signer’s ravishing collection.
Hina Khan on the occasion said, “Trophy is an added privilege, I am sure the girls will take so much confidence from here. I am glad to be a part of the event. Our coun-try is full of talented people but we lack confidence and I’m so happy to see that this show provides a plat-form for these models to grow into bold and beau-tiful women.”

hantasmagoria, an art exhibi-tion presented by Bhavna Ka-kar is being or-ganised from
October 27 to November 15, at Latitude 28, Lado Sarai. Phantasmagoria brings together artists like Dileep Sharma, Farhad Husain, George Martin, Pratul Dash, who problematize the concept of realism as well as reality, in an age that is a frenzy of simulations. Taking from pop culture while blurring the bounda-ries between ‘high’ and ‘low’ art, these artists form bricolages of mental landscapes. ‘Parody’ and ‘Pastiche’ are blended to form a post-modern critique of consumerist aesthet-ics. Dileep Sharma jux-taposes motifs that are reflective of contempo-rary media and popular culture to embed his images with a stark
sense of satirical humor, seduction, and fantasy. His models reflect fash-ion and flamboyance to subvert their very es-sence through contrast-ing imagery. Farhad Hu-sain explores the politics and dynamics of human relationships affected by the capitalist society which survives through alienation and sheer con-sumption. He creates eclectic rhetoric of im-ages coming from di-verse schools, prints, and images from the
entertainment world creating a montage of old and new. George Martin cre-
ates ideas or abstract thoughts into an almost tangible physical thing by providing them with a conceptual aesthetic. The flow of thought al-ludes to the fluidity of music and sound and a pastiche of sorts is manifested by bringing in images from distinct sources revealing the fragmentary nature of contemporary times. Pratul Dash employs the painted surface to distort the perception of the viewer and there-by question their view of representation.
