• The highlands have many different rocks some even glow!
• Rushing rivers and streams let some early settlers set up mills.

Its difficult to grow crops in the rocky soil of ridge and valley.
• Grassy slopes in the valleys are perfect for cows.• Ridge and valley is located next to the Appalachian
