• 12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Trial or Temptation?

• In Greek there is very little difference between the words “trial” or “tempt”

• Usually determined by

• Context

• Origin

• But there is an overlap

• Some tests from God can be used by Satan as a temptation

• 16-18 So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light.
