Artist Statement

Wood has a richness of color, texture and history. It is a living thing. Working with wood allows me to enjoy and enhance this natural beauty into a func-tional form. Heavily inuenced by the history of craft in America, I believe in the honesty of Arts and Craft style furniture. Show joinery, owing lines and an appreciation of the rustic are all in play in my work.

Being also a graduate in Biology from McMaster University, I am well aware of the environmental impact one has in our eld. I use reclaimed/salvaged material wherever possible and attempt to use planet friendly nishes. There is no waste only unclaimed opportunities. In my future work I hope to explore this further, using local opportunities to create items of innof innovative beauty.
