Jammu Municipal Corporation sealed the premises of
an illegal building.
During a drive to check illegal construction across the Jammu City, the
Enforcement team of Jammu Municipal Corporation sealed the premises of an illegal
raised multistorey building at 5 A/B owned by one Behari Lal Gupta. The owner has
constructed three floors in the rear set back of the said building without any building
permission from Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Municipal authorities have requested all the Jammu City dwellers to refrain from
any act of construction and encroachments and support the Municipal Corporation’s
endeavors to make city clean and organized.
Jammu Municipal Corporation also extended infrastructural support in the
demolition drive at Narwal Bye Pass Jammu.

Campaign against “Jammu Against Plastic Pollution”
In continuation to Jammu Municipal Corporation’s ongoing “Jammu Against
Plastic Pollution” campaign, JMC under the instructions of Mayor, JMC Sh. Chander
Mohan Gupta, and Commissioner, JMC, Sh. Pankaj Magotra (KAS), Secretary, JMC,
Smt. Sunaina Sharma (KAS) launched Duna Pattal stall, a replacement to the Single Use
Plastic at Gandhi Nagar Rehri Zone in presence of Revenue Officers Sh. Ashwani Sudan
& Sh. Sunil Gupta.
The vendors at Rehri zone Gandhi Nagar gave an excellent response to the
initiative of Jammu Municipal Corporation by launching the old and traditional Duna
Pattal culture at their Rehri zone. They showed good response and started purchase of
Duna Pattel instantly from the stall. The general public also welcome the move taken by
Jammu Municipal Corporation. Similar stalls shall be installed at Bahu Fort and other
areas of the city.
In today’s campaign Jammu Municipal Corporation’s three teams constituted for
the collection of Single Use Plastic waste from different Schools also collected 03 truck
loads of Single Use Plastic from them weighing 05 quintals 20 kgs collected by the
School children.
Jammu Municipal Corporation again appeal to the general public to say “Say No to
Plastic Use” and use only cloth bag, an indigenous replacement to “Single Use Plastic” to
make our Jammu City Neat, Clean & Green.

Jammu Municipal Corporation organized one day Conference on
“Technologies for Cleaning Sewers and Septic Tanks with the Objective
of Eliminating Human Entry into Septic Tanks / Manholes”
Today on 01/10/2019 Jammu Municipal Corporation in association with Ministry
of Housing & Urban Affairs (GOI) & Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu organized one
day Conference on “Technologies for Cleaning Sewers and Septic Tanks with the
Objective of Eliminating Human Entry into Septic Tanks / Manholes” at Conference Hall
Udyog Bhawan, Rail Head Complex Jammu. Hon’ble Mayor Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta
was chief guest on this occasion. Hon’ble Dy. Mayor Mrs. Purnima Sharma, Hon’ble
Chairman Public Health Sanitation Committee Sh. Baldev Singh Billawaria, Hon’ble
Chairman Swachh Bharat Committee Sh. Suraj Parkash, Hon’ble Chairman Social
Justice Sh. Jeet Angral, were also present.
In the beginning Commissioner JMC Sh. Pankaj Magotra welcomed all the
guests. He stressed upon the need to follow the guidelines and precautions for cleaning
sewers and septic tanks and also emphasized to use modern technologies. He also
thanked Dr. S. Saktheeswaran (Technical Expert) nominated by the MOH&UA Govt. of
India and Mrs. Anu Jasrotia Resource person (Head trainer of NSDC) National
Safaikaramcharies Development Corporation to spare their valuable time for the
conference.
Dr. S. Saktheeswaran presented a lecture regarding Legal aspects on
operation & management of cleaning of sewers and septic tanks. He also highlighted the
provisions of punishments and penalties under the provisions of Manual Scavenging Act
2013. He also made aware about the Schemes available for procurement of equipment
and machinery for cleaning sewers and septic tanks.

Mrs. Anu Jasrotia demonstrated a presentation on Technologies for Cleaning
Sewers and Septic Tanks and best equipments which are being used for this purpose.
The safety gears which are required to be used were also discussed in the conference.
Sh. Ashish Kumar Gupta Joint Commissioner (A), JMC, Smt. Suniana Sharma,
Secretary, JMC, Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer JMC alongwith other officers / officials
of JMC, Sh. Varinder Kumar Manyal Dy. Director Local Bodies Jammu, Sh. Sanjay
Gupta, S.E. UEED and other Officers / Officials of Local Bodies and UEED were also
present.
Sh. Rajinder Kakkar, Resident Welfare Association Trikuta Nagar, Subash Sharma
President Banquet Hall Federation, Representative from Hotels Association were also
present.
Hon’ble Mayor concluded the conference with a vote of thanks.

Drive regarding “Jammu Against Plastic Pollution” and
“Swachhata Hi Seva”.
To give a Tribute to the “Father of Nation “ Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th
Birth Anniversary, Jammu Municipal Corporation today started the day with Shramdhan
activity from Panjtirthi to Sidhra bridge as a part its continuous drive “Jammu Against
Plastic Pollution” and “Swachhata Hi Seva”.
Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Dy. Mayor,
Smt. Purnima Sharma, Chairman, Swachh Bharat Standing Committee, Sh. Suraj
Parkash Padha, Chairman, Public Health Sanitation Standing Committee, Sh. Baldev
Singh Billawria, Chairman, Social Justice Standing Committee, Sh. Jeet Angral and
Commissioner, JMC, Sh. Pankaj Magotra alongwith officers and officials of Jammu
Municipal Corporation participated and assisted the Safaikaramcharies in Shramdhan
(cleanliness drive) which started from Panjtirthi, Jammu and culminated at Sidhra
bridge. The waste so collected was segregated by the participants at the point of
culmination for recycling.
Thereafter, Jammu Municipal Corporation organized felicitation function at
Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, Jammu to honour the Green champions from
different schools/N.G.Os and individuals who collected single use plastic during an
intensive drive conducted by JMC in collaboration with Directorate of School Education
Jammu, various Social and Non Governmental Organizations. In the drive, 173 schools
registered themselves with JMC, 177 Green champions were declared from 57 schools.
57 schools collected 4108 kgs of single use plastic which was handed over to Jammu
Municipal Corporation. Further, JMC Handed over the collected single use plastic to the
NHIDCL (National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.) for using
it in black topping of under construction Jammu Akhnoor road.

`Shikshaniketan H.S.School, Jeevan Nagar , Guru Harkrishan Public School,
Nanak Nagar and Cooperative Public School Deeli got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively
in highest collection of single use plastic.
Three students namely Avneet Kour from Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nanak
Nagar, Tibarak from Cooperative Public School Deeli and Divesh from Shikshaniketan
H.S.School, Jeevan Nagar who collected highest quantity of single use plastic were
declared as 1st, 2nd and 3rd City Green champions respectively.
Impressive cultural activities and Nukkad Natak were also performed on
swachhta and single use plastic by the students from different schools and Lok Nath
Yatar.
Swarangan Meditation Charitable Trust (NGO) also collected and handed over 8
quintals of single use plastic to JMC was also facilitated on this occasion.
IPCA (Indian Pollution Control Association), NHIDCL (National Highways and
Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.), Indian Oil M/S Shree Swastik Plastic
Industries, M/S Flexo Industries, M/s Shivam Plastic House, M/S Shivam Polymers who
are the implementation partners also participated.
All the Green Champions/City champions/1st, 2ndand 3rd prize holders were
felicitated by the Mayor, Dy. Mayor and Commissioner JMC along with others.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor, Dy. Mayor, Chairpersons and
Commissioner JMC impressed upon the participants to continue this noble cause and
spread the message “Say No to Plastic” throughout the society and use only indigenous
alternatives.

JAMMU MUNICIPAL CORPORATION DEMOLISHES THE
UNAUTHORIZED CONSTRUCTIONS
During a drive to check illegal constructions across Jammu City, the
Enforcement staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation on the directions of Commissioner
and under the overall supervision of Joint Commissioner (A), JMC sealed the structure
which was being illegally constructed by Raj Bharat Bhagat S/o Sant Ram at 129, Palace
road, Dogra Hall, Jammu and also sealed a shop being constructed illegally by S. Jagjit
Singh S/o S. Jagvir Singh at Plot No. 487/488, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The
Enforcement Staff was also demolished the illegal construction being raised by Mr. Sonu
Sharma S/o Sh. Shiv Kumar at 77 Extn. 2, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The above said constructions had been raised unauthorizedly and in
violation of the building plan. The Jammu Municipal Corporation initiated the action
under the provisions of J&K Control of Building Operation Act 1998.

Mandeep singh S/o S. Paramjeet Singh at Friends Colony Ext. Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The above said constructions had been raised unauthorizedly and in violation of
the building plan. The Jammu Municipal Corporation initiated the action under the
provisions of J&K Control of Building Operation Act 1998.
Municipal authorities have requested all the Jammu City dwellers to refrain from
any act of construction and encroachments and support the Municipal Corporation’s
endeavors to make city clean and organized.

JMC DEMOLISHED UNAUTHORIZED SHOPS / SEALED THE PREMISES
The Enforcement Staff led by Sh. Prem Singh Chib (KAS) Assistant Commissioner
(Rev) Jammu Municipal Corporation under the guidance of Sh. Pankaj Magotra (KAS)
Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and Sh. Ashish Kumar Gupta (KAS) Joint
Commissioner (Adm), Jammu Municipal Corporation while further continuing the drive
against the unauthorized constructions took the following actions in the different areas
falling within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation:
I. The team sealed the premises of Sh. Sunny Kumar S/o Sh. Romesh Kumar at
Sarwal Colony, Jammu for converting the residential room into commercial shop in
violation of the land use of the area from residential to commercial one.
II. Demolished the shops raised unauthorizedly by Sh. Mohan Lal Sharma S/o
Pandit Amar Nath at Main Chowk, Janipur, Jammu in violation of the Master Plan.
III. The team demolished a huge unfinished structure at Laxmipuram Chinore,
Jammu which was raised unauthorizedly.
IV. The team also demolished the shop at 82-A Sec No: 3 Channi Himmat, Jammu
raised by Sh. Surinder Gupta unauthorizedly without the permission of Jammu Municipal
Corporation.
The drives against the unauthorized construction / violations have been
conducted with the active co-operative assistant and support of Police Force from the
concerned Police Stations.
Further, the Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General Public to refrain
from making illegal constructions and get building plans whether commercial / residential
approved from Jammu Municipal Corporation otherwise action as admissible under rules
leading to demolition / sealing of the building will be taken.

Drive against the menace of Open Urination, open defecation, Spitting
in public places, Polythene carry bags, littering of garbage on the road
and lanes
On the directions of Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. Pankaj
Magotra and in continuation to the drive against the menace of Open Urination, open
defecation, Spitting in public places, Polythene carry bags, littering of garbage on the
road and lanes today on 17/10/2019 the Health & Sanitation wing of Jammu Municipal
Corporation under the Supervision of Health Officer Dr. Saleem Khan conducted a drive
in the areas Lower Gummat, Jewel, K.C. Morh, Bakshi Nagar. During the drive the
teams penalized the defaulters for Open Urination, Polythene carry bags, littering of
garbage on the road and lanes and imposed penalties to the tune of Rs. 1500/-. An
amount of Rs. 22100/-recovered till date from the violators
The teams aware the public in general to desist from practicing spitting in public
places, open urination and open defecation and littering of garbage otherwise they shall
be penalized accordingly. Particularly labour class residing in Jugies within the limits of
JMC is found involved in open defecation. The owners of plots who have erected juggies
in their plots are once again directed to provide them toilet facility and also restrict these
labourers to defecate in open otherwise action under the provisions of Municipal Act
shall be initiated against such plot owners.
Commissioner, JMC appeals to the general public to follow the rules so that
healthy environment could be maintained and use public toilets instead of open places.

JMC SEALS ANOTHER STRUTURE
On the instructions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Jammu and
under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (Administration), the Enforcement staff
sealed the pre-fabricated structure being used as cement store for stocking and trading
of Cement constructed by Sh. Harnam Singh Manhas at Sec: A Extension Opp Kissan
Mill, National Highway, Sainik Colony, Jammu under section 8 (1) of J&K Control of
Building Operation Act, 1988 as the said structures raised without the permission of
Jammu Municipal Corporation and causing nuisance, traffic hazard and other
environmental problems in the vicinity and much inconvenience to the general public
residing in the area who have agitated and complained against the same.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General Public to refrain from
making illegal constructions and get building plans whether commercial / residential
approved from Jammu Municipal Corporation otherwise action as admissible under rules
leading to demolition / sealing of the building will be taken.

Orientation programme was Organized regarding awareness on Anti
Tuberculosis (TB) In Jammu City.
Today an orientation programme at K.C Residency by Jammu Municipal
Corporation in association with District Tuberculosis Centre, Jammu under Revised
National Tuberculosis Control Programme-RNTCP was Organized under
which awareness on Anti Tuberculosis (TB) In Jammu City in presence of Hon’ble
Mayor, Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble Dy. Mayor Adv. Purnima Sharma, Hon’ble
Councillors and Officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation. The Dignitaries are welcomed
by Commissioner, JMC, Sh. Pankaj Magotra (KAS). DTO Jammu made aware the
gathering about signs & symptoms of Tuberculosis and how to get benefits from Govt.
and further stated that there is need to make a bridge between patient and Health
Department so that no patient remains untreated/un-attended for complete eradication
of Tuberculosis before 2025.
During the course of function Hon’ble Mayor, Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble
Dy. Mayor, Adv. Purnima Sharma, Dr. Sanjay, State Tuberculosis Officer and Dr. Renu
Sharma, Dy. Director (HQ), Directorate of Health Services gave their valuable suggestions
for mass awareness of programme. Hon’ble Mayor further stressed that Hon’ble
Councillors can play a vital role, as they can aware the residents of their respective
wards about T.B. and added that the goal of organizing such programmes is to eradicate
TB from Jammu region completely. He stressed on NIkshay Pishan.

raised without the permission of Jammu Municipal Corporation and causing nuisance,
traffic hazard in the vicinity and much inconvenience to the general public residing in
the area who have agitated and complained against the same.

Hon'ble Mayor Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, JMC conducted a press conference.
Today Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, JMC conducted a Press Conference in
presence of Sh. Pankaj Magotra, Commissioner, JMC, Sh. Ashish Kumar Gupta, Joint
Commissioner (A), Sh. Joginder Sharma, CAO, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, MVO JMC.
During the Press Conference Mayor JMC said that JMC through print and
electronic media wants to convey the message among the general masses especially to
the owner of open plots to provide toilet facility to the labour class (Juggiwalas) falling
which necessary strict action against them shall be initiated as per the JMC Act, 2000.
JMC is working seriously and responsibly round the clock to ensure proper sanitation in
entire City. While replying to a question of a Journalist regarding inadequate street lights
facilities in some areas. The Mayor JMC and Commissioner, JMC ensure that street
lights shall be provided to each nook and corner within the limits of JMC and directions
in this regard has been issued to the concerned wing so that all the limits of JMC may
become free from dark zones. A MoU stands signed with Energy Efficiency Services
Limited (EESL) for installing new lights by replacing old lights. They further added that
JMC is also putting every possible effort to provide basic civic amenities to the residents
of the City and for this the cooperation of the general public is also required to achieve
the goal.
