Social Studies This week, we wrap up our chapter on different traditions around the world to complete Chapter 5. Week of January 2, 2020 Jan. 20 - No School Jan. 23 - Pirate/Princess Day Jan. 31 - BVE Day Feb. 14-17 - No School Feb. 25 - Disney Day Feb. 26 - BVE Day Math This week, we continue working through Chapter 5 - Multiplication. We will use our knowledge of expanded notation and the distributive property in order to solve problems involving multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. Reading This week, we will begin our nonfiction unit on Disasters. Throughout the unit, we will read stories about the Titanic, the volcanic eruption in Pompeii, and the molasses explosion in Boston. We will practice using our text features to aid in our reading, while practicing a variety of reading skills and strategies. This week, we will complete our pre-prompts for our Opinion Unit. The class will independently write to show what they know BEFORE we begin the unit.
