From the Editor’s desk…

A single step of continuous effort help to reach the goal and excellence in every facet

of life. To achieve excellence in teaching- learning research, extension and other

extracurricular activities, the faculty members and students of the college are constantly

contributing with their best.

For widening the multi-dimensional approach a Faculty Enrichment Programme on

“Intellectual Property Rights” was organized, which covered the humanities, social

science and legal aspect of IPR.

The Interdisciplinary workshops and Special lectures on Geographical Information

System (GIS), Application of SPSS, Demonetization, Indian Society Turning to

Digital way of life, added to the indepth knowledge of the particular field and

concept.

The college endeavored to implement the directives of the Government on Digital

Literacy Campaign (VISAKA). The students participated enthusiastically to

motivate and train the public for transaction.

To provide the plate form for skill development and career avenues, the college

continuously organizes workshops on subject related to future career options. Pandulipi

Vigyan, News Writing and Editing were organized with such objectives.

The students presented a delightful ballet Grahabhivandan in the Annual Function of

the College, which was appreciated by one and all. The news coverage of the function

was widely circulated online.The Editorial Board has taken sincere efforts to cover all

the activities held during January to July 2017 in this volume. Any omission is

regretted.

Faculty Enrichment Programme

March 03-09, 2017

Faculty Enrichment Programme on “Intellectual Property Rights” was

organized by the departments of Economics, Geography, English and Hindi

under UGC CPE scheme phase II.

In the inaugural Session Prof. Avinash Chandra Pandey, former VC,

Bundelkhand University, UP and at present HOD, Dept. of Atmospheric &

Ocean Science, AU was the Resource Person. He expressed his views on

various aspects of “Intellectual Property Rights”.

Prof. Manmohan Krishna, HOD, Dept. of Economics, AU Allahabad

specified three terms of IPR systematically (Geographical indication,

Copyright and Trademarks).

On 4th March Dr. Dhananjay Chopra, expert from Centre of Media and

Mass Communication in AU delivered a vibrant lecture on ‘New

Communication Tools of IPR’.

On 5th March Dr. B.K. Singh Librarian, A.U. presented his views on plagiarism

and academic integrity.

On 6th March Dr. Shiv Shankar Singh, Law Faculty, CMP Degree College

informed about the various legal aspects of IPR.

On 7th March Prof. H.N. Tiwari, Law Faculty, A.U., discussed about the

industrial and intellectual aspects of IPR.

In the second session Prof. Ashish Saxena, HOD Sociology Dept. AU Alld.

spoke on the topic: Debating IPR in Global Era; An Indian Experiences.

On 8th March Prof. Anupam Dixit, former HOD, Dept. of Botany, AU,

Allahabad delivered an interesting lecture on Copyright, Trademark,

Integrated circuits, Geographical indications and patent, Industrial design

and Trade-Secrets.

On 9th March Prof. Rakesh Khanna, former HOD Law Dept., AU spoke on

TRIPS and emphasized that law should ensure the protection of every

intellectual property.

In valedictory session Prof. H.N. Mishra, Professor Emeritus, spoke on the

geographical perspective of IPR and emphasized the ethical values. Dr.

Chandrashekhar Pran, Chief Guest, told about historical, sociological, and

commercial aspects of IPR. He also spoke on impact of globalization on IPR.

Dr. Anita Srivastava was the organizing secretary and Dr. Shikha Dikshit was

the coordinator of the workshop. In above seven days programme 44 faculty

members from different degree colleges of Allahabad University

participated.

Workshop

Workshop Pandulipi Vigyan 06 Feb 2017

A workshop on Pandulipi Vigyan was organized by the Depts. of Sanskrit and

Ancient History. The aim of the workshop was to provide the platform of Skill

development in the area of Pandulipi Vigyan. Prof L.K. Tripathi G.N. Jha

Campus and Prof Anamika Roy Dept. of Ancient History, AU were resource

persons. The speakers informed that there are numerous areas to be studied

in the field of Pandulipi Vigyan such as collection of manuscripts written on

different materials, cataloguing, documentation transcription, editing,

digitization etc. Dr. L.K. Tripathi told that Govt.of India has established

“National Manuscripts Museum” in 2003. The resource persons informed that

Govt. of India is running a big Project in the field of manuscriptology and

there are lots of career avenues in this field.

The students of Sanskrit and History have better opportunity to get

skilled in the ‘Manusriptology’ and for future entrepreneurship. The study and

knowledge of different scripts such as Brahmi, Kutil, sharda, Tamil also opened

the door in the field of manuscriptology. The workshop was attended by

approximately 50 students.

Annual Function

Feb15, 2017

The Annual Function Vasantika was celebrated on February 15, 2017.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof. Ratanlal Hangloo, Vice Chancellor

University of Allahabad. Dr. Rajesh Purohit, Director, Allahabad Museum was

the Guest of Honour. The Function was presided by Shri Kalyan Ghosh,

President, Jagat Taran Education Society.

The Cultural extravaganza of Ballet performance on Grahabhivandan by the

students of the College was very much appreciated by one and all.

A group song on Shivsankalp was presented by the student. A solo song

recital of Rabindra Sangeet presented by College student enthralled the

audience.
