I am a qualified health and safety professional with a wealth of experience. I enjoy developing and implementing comprehensive safety management systems including the creation of strategic management goals. I excel at developing effective KPI’s to provide assurance that key risks are managed.

I am also skilled at an operational level in undertaking fire risk assessments and in the management of asbestos, legionella, gas and electricity safety. I can undertake accident investigations, risk assessments and training. I am an effective communicator with experience of liaising with external bodies such as the HSE and Fire Service.

My ability to analyse data and identify trends allows me to develop innovative means to ensure health, safety and compliance.

I have excellent report writing skills and an ability to influence positive behaviour at all levels of business.

Regional Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor

I worked for the Housing Maintenance section of Kier Group who holds the contract for the maintenance of Stoke on Trent City Council’s housing stock plus other regional maintenance contracts. This comprised of all of the maintenance and improvements works for approximately 20,000 properties across Stoke on Trent and improvement works for other properties in Manchester, Blackburn and Ellesmere PortAs part of the Health, Safety and Environment Team and answering to the Regional Health, Safety and Environment Manager, I was responsible for health, safety and environment for all contracts within the West region

Key Achievements

Reviewing and developing the Environmental Management Plan to achieve ISO 14001

Carrying out in depth accident investigation to identify immediate and root causes and making cost effective recommendations based upon these findings

Health and Safety Adviser

Aspire Group incorporates a number of companies including Aspire Housing, a registered social landlord, Enterprising Futures, a company providing training opportunities and apprenticeships for young people and The Realise Foundation, a charity providing assistance to apprentices and funding for local improvement schemes. It employs approximately 600 employees of which 150 work in housing maintenance.

Aspire Housing owns 8500 properties including seventeen sheltered housing schemes, one extra care scheme and over 100 low rise flat blocks. It also has three office buildings.In addition to this Aspire has recently taken over the management of properties owned by Stoke on Trent Housing Trust which includes three high rise blocks of flats.

Working as part of the Health and Safety Team and answering to the Health, Safety Manager, I was responsible for health and safety at Aspire Housing.

Personal Interests

Outside of work I am a keen reader and gardener. I am a member of the National Trust with an avid interest in history and I am currently restoring and preserving an Edwardian house with a view to retain as many original features as possible.
