Your gifts, whether big or small, will make a significant impact. We have many people in our parish as well as in our community who need our help. Archdiocesan ministries help thousands in central and southern Indiana who are in need; for those suffering; for those who are hungry, searching; and who need our prayers and assistance in a multitude of ways (e.g. our retired priests). Many of you have already submitted your United Catholic Appeal intention card to advance our archdiocesan mission and ministries. Thank you! For those who have not yet given or pledged a gift, please prayerfully consider making a gift. There is not an expected amount that I am asking you to pledge. Maybe you can only give $5. Great! That five dollars will do great things! Ideally, our goal would be 100% participation from our parish community. Realisti- cally, and historically, we have never done so. January 14, 2018 – The Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Pastor’s Corner Dear Brothers and Sisters:

It’s not too late to give to the United Catholic Appeal.

Realisti-cally, and historically, we have never done so. (Continued page 2)

…Pastor’s Corner (continued)

Last year, our goal was $27,020; we pledged $36,255, or 134% of the goal with 22% of our households participating. This year our goal is $31,020; as of January 4, 2018, we have pledged $30,702, or 99% of the goal, with 19% of our households participating. A realistic challenge, then, would be for 23% of our households to make a gift or pledge a gift before the end of January. Your generosity to our parish is evident each week in the bulletin! I, the Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Committee, and Engagement Committee are so grateful for this. We continue to strive to “invest” your gifts in the mission and the variety of ministries of Our Lady of Lourdes.

I know that the Archdiocese does the same with the gifts to the United Catholic Appeal. I have seen first-hand this to be true. That is why I ask all of our households to consider responding.

May the Lord continue to bless us and the work we are doing through both our parish and our archdiocese. - Father Rick

Putting Our Faith Into Action Catholic Relief Services (CRS)

CRS partners with Special Olympics. A partnership begun in 2014 between Special Olympics International (SOI) and CRS was renewed recently for anoth-er 5 years. Together, we help people with intellectual disabilities in developing countries gain access to services and interventions that will help them thrive. People with intellectual disabilities (up to 200 million) and their immediate families are among the most marginalized, isolated and neglected populations, particularly in the developing world. The partnership works to eliminate health disparities, empower people with intellectual disabilities, provide humanitarian assistance, youth activation and national policy development for this population. Disability is a leading cause of children entering orphanages. CRS seeks to deinstitutionalize care for millions of children around the world by giving parents the skills they need to support their children, turning orphanages into service providers. Full Time Evening Custodian We currently have an opening for a full time custodian to do cleaning and light mainte-nance in the school building on Monday-Friday evenings from about 3 to 11:30 p.m. Health insurance is available with this posi-tion. Applicant must be motivated to work, for the most part, independently, and must be able to do heavy custodial work, with some use of equipment for floor cleaning. Interested persons may pick up an applica-tion at the parish office, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enter the Parish Center by Door 11 or Door 13. No phone calls please.

BULLETIN DEADLINE Please send your entries by NOON on Tuesdays to ensure your article will appear in that week’s printing. If you have flyers to be inserted into the bulletin, please bring them to the parish office by 4 p.m. Thursday evening. THANK YOU!

Thank you! We have all seen them, and some have experienced close-up (such as cantors and servers) the new liturgical furnishings (cantor stand, 2 credence tables, cre-mains/wedding candle table, and ambry for the holy oils). They are beautiful, fit-ting into our sanctuary as though they were always there. The design work by Mike Egan and his co-workers at Entheos Architects was cru-cial (they also designed the 2012 altar, presider and server chairs, and tabernacle pedestal). The advice of Ross Maue, Facilities Committee Chair, the Liturgy Committee, and the Archdiocese Church Art and Architecture Committee were tremendous aids in shaping the design and execution. The craftsmanship of the folks at Richeson Cabinets is evident! And the gifts received from the following folks (THANK YOU!) were generous and amazing.

Dear OLL Families, Happy New Year to each and every one of you! It is my hope that you had a wonderful Christmas vacation with your families. Although a bit sleepy on Monday morning, all of our students seem excited to be back at school and ready to begin our second half of the school year. We have many things to look forward to in the months ahead. Our second quarter ended on December 22, and the report cards were made available for viewing on Wednesday this week. Parents are asked to sign and return the form acknowledging that you have viewed your child’s grades. You are encouraged to con-tinue to check your child’s grades and attendance on a regular basis in Jupiter and reach out to the teachers with any questions or concerns. Congratulations to our Leading Lyons students for Quarter 2. These students, who consistently work hard in their classes, make good choices, and help others, will enjoy a free dress day on a date to be determined. NWEA reports for the Winter Testing session were sent home this week. Look to see if your child grew from the Fall Session to the Winter. Our teachers use NWEA data to target instruction to the specific skill levels of our students, and each student has a growth plan for the year. Be sure to contact your child’s teacher with any questions regarding NWEA. Please remember to send your children to school with warm coats, hats, and gloves. We will go outside for recess when the temperatures allow us to do so, but even if staying indoors, the children need warm outerwear for arrival and dismissal. As the January winter weather continues, remember that we will post closings and delays on local news stations, (Channel 6, 8, & 13), and send out an email message and emergency text alert through Jupiter. We will also post on Facebook and communicate through our school Twitter. Monday, January 15, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. School will not be in session. Our students have spent time this week in Social Studies and Religion classes learning about MLK and his message of harmony, equality, and peace. Also, next Friday, January 19, right after the school 8:15 a.m. Mass, we will present our Visionary Awards for the 2nd Quarter. Three students in each grade level will be recognized for representing a component of our school vision statement OLL: One Community; Living Faithful-ly; Leading Academically in a special way. I want to say thank you all so much for the presents, goodies, and cards that I received for Christmas! I enjoyed all of the gifts and your thoughtfulness is much appreciated. I am so grateful to be here with you and your children. Finally, our school Open House is Sunday, January 28, from

11 a.m.-1 p.m. Please help spread the word! All are welcome to

tour the school, enjoy refreshments, meet our teachers, receive

registration information, and more.

Sincerely,

Chris Kolakovich

Principal
