Guest ReceptionThere is a guest reception in the Commons immediately following theSaturday night and the 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning service. Come and meet

    Dr. Wicker.

    These Boots The pop song

    declares, These

    boots are made

    for walkin As

    any cowboy willtell you, they

    are made for

    ridin and ropin!

    When John

    Justin, Jr. took

    the reins of his

    familys 71-year-

old Texas-based boot business in 1950,the demand for cowboy boots was at an

all-time low. Even rodeo calf ropers were

opting for tennis shoes in the arena, which

allowed for quicker maneuvering than the

    high-heeled, pointy-toed gear. However,

Justin released the Roper boot four years

    later with a at-heeled, round-toed boot,

which marked the end of the embarrassing

dirty sneaker phase. Pastoring in Oklahoma

and Texas, I also had two pairs of dress

and working Justin boots. More eternally

signicant, a church must be willing to

change and reevaluate strategy and tools.

Also, we should not slip in our service.Though the Bible does not speak of boots, it

does say that in our Christian armor we are

to shod our feet with the preparation of the

gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15). God calls

us to stand on His gospel or good news.

During the violence in Northern Ireland,

after a bombing, a local pastor told his

church: We have good news; the rainbow

is most vivid against a glowering sky. As

one 16th century Puritan preacher wrote,

It is such a message as no good news can

come before it nor no ill news follow.

We can share the Shalom of God throughthe simple plan of salvation by witnessing.

That sure-footedness, as pictured in the

Roman soldiers sandals with cleats on

the soles, can only come when you know

what and how you are going to speak.

Approaching a new semester of FAITH

Evangelism, we will help you to put on

those boots of belief and get a grip on thetruth which helps you to not slide. When

you seek to ght that battle and rope that

calf (or sinner), you learn to actively be

prepared when God opens doors. We need

new soldiers to enlist and veterans to reup

for a new semester of sharing the gospel.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, you soldiers

of the cross...Put on the gospel armor, each

piece put on with prayer; where duty calls

or danger, be never wanting there. These

    boots are made for marchin.

    Protocol for Contacting Missionaries

DO Pray for the work of your missionaries. Pray for the missionaries people group, city, or seminary with

which they are engaged. Remember the birthday and anniversary of your missionaries. Save your change in your Change the World coin bank. Let the missionaries know your needs and that of your family

if they ask, but keep them foremost in your concern. Be sensitive to their busy lifestyle and aware of possible

    delays in communication and response.

DONT... Be discouraged by a slow response from your missionaries. Violate privacy and security issues. Be shocked by their situation or their humanity. Many are

wounded warriors who keep fighting. Contact them more than they want you to, remembering that

some are either more private in their personalities, or

restrained because of security issues. Deemphasize those who serve in North America. Let your lack of funds at times prevent your connection and

    prayer.

What most Christians sadly misunderstand is that God isnt into religious activities or

performance-based Christianity. Instead, Chips message will reveal to us a relational

prole of what it means to be a disciple, as well as a proven pathway to becoming more

    like Jesus each day.

If youve become stagnant in your spiritual growth, START HERE.

If youve become disengaged with your church experience, START HERE.
