Dear Friends, The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament that is seldom thought about unless in time of need. At one point in history, it was called “extreme unction” [emergency anointing] when a person was considered to be dying. Today, instead of considering this sacrament as given only in a time of extreme danger, it is better to understand this Sacrament as the church praying for the person dealing with any manner of disease of the mind, body or spirit. I certainly do offer people the sacrament when they are in danger of death; However, I also offer the sacrament to people who have chronic illness or who are facing surgery. In our parish, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered on the first Wednesday of each month during the 8:30am Mass. It is also offered once a year on a Sunday weekend, such as will be offered on February 7-8; and it will be offered to the Elementary School community on Friday, January 23rd. Our prayer during the anointing says that we trust God’s grace in our lives, in sickness and in health. As the Church we walk with those who are ill, offering our supportive love. Registration is currently underway at our parish Elementary School. Our School has provided fine educational opportunities over its nearly 40 years of service. We are small enough to know your child’s name and large enough to prepare a child for any High School and beyond. If you have a child or children, please consider our School as your educational and religious educational partner. We are privileged as a parish to be able to offer this ministry. Open House will be Thursday January 29, 10:00am-1:00pm beginning in the Library. Our yearly look at Financial Stewardship is coming up later in the month. I hope you have been able to take a look at the construction under way. Please pray for this effort. Have a good week. Love,

BAPTISMS We welcome the following children to our parish family through the Sacrament of Baptism:

† Samuel Harris Turcott, son of Toby and Brenda Turcotte.

† John Riley Parish, son of Darren Parish and Dawn Langlois.

Sacrificial Giving Mirrors the Gift of God’s Son We enter the Stewardship of Finance phase of our Total Stewardship program and invite you to give prayerful attention to the information

in the bulletin regarding this important aspect of spiritual stewardship. Please set aside a proportionate share of God’s blessings for the work and ministry of this parish. As you think and pray, keep the Lord’s sacrificial example in mind. God’s response to our need for forgiveness and salvation prompted him to give his very best, his own Son, and Jesus gave his all. Following such a loving example, giving is sacrificial.

VOCATION A good vocation prayer to say every day - from the time we are young until we are in our golden years - is found in today's first Scripture reading: "Speak LORD, for your servant is listening."
