Kicking the New Year off with a bang, the library will be opening the first ever Cyber Café! Starting on Thursday, January 3 from 11:30 a.m. until
4:00 p.m. patrons are invited to enjoy the large meeting room at the Main Library in a “café” type setting. Patrons will be able to enjoy a cup of coffee,
hot tea, water, or their own (non-alcoholic) beverage while using their electronic device, reading a magazine, or digging into their favorite library
book.
During this time, a library staff member will be available to help with any questions regarding Overdrive, eReader devices, connecting your electronic
device to the library’s FREE wifi, or any questions you may have about Facebook and social media in general.
Following the first Thursday, the Cyber Café will continue every Thursday
from 11:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Please take the opportunity to stop by and enjoy your favorite library activity accompanied by a hot cup of coffee or tea! It’s
free, and it’s happening at YOUR library.

Starting in February, the library will be buzzing with cheer! Toddler time is
BACK! Children ages 24 months—35 months (2 years old) are welcome to join in on all the fun with their parents. Ms.
Sarah will share stories, finger plays,

Department at the Main library to register!

exhibit opening. Please join us in celebrating this wonderful event on Tuesday, January 15

It’s time to get in the groove at your
library! The children are not the only ones having fun this new year! Calling
all adults 18 and older who want to participate in the adult tie-dying
workshop! It’s time to let loose and get colorful with instructor Kristie Rose
Trahan, who will share her years of tie-dying experience with you! All you
need to do is register and bring a
washed shirt or other 100% cotton
item. Please do not use fabric softener while
washing. Space is limited, so please call
the Main Library to register at 364.7024. It is sure to be a creative
experience that you won’t want to miss. This event is sponsored by Cox

Many people have smartphones but don’t use them to their fullest
potential. Take this opportunity to explore your iPhone at the BASIC
LEVEL as Thomas Gotte helps you navigate through your phone as well
as answer questions you may have about your iPhone. Make sure to register for this interactive and informative workshop! Some basic
knowledge is helpful, however the class is designed to cover basic skills, so no experience needed. Some of the topics covered in class are: making
a phone call, adding contacts, viewing contact list, navigating the home button, turning your phone off, volume controls, picture taking and
messaging, email, connecting to wi-fi, browsing on the internet, and some
apps.
You must be 18 or older to attend. Call 364.7024 to register.
“It’s A Wrap” was a great adult workshop that had many people
wrapping their hearts out! On the right are some class participants
pictured who got an early start on holiday gift wrapping. The FREE
workshop was offered by the library and sponsored by Teche Federal Bank, Cox Communications, and the Friends of the Library.

Dr. Barry Ancelet talks about Mardi Gras, and the Tradition of “Begging” in South Louisiana
Dr. Barry Ancelet will join the Iberia Parish Library and share his wonderful
lecture on the holiday we have all become so fond of, Mardi Gras! Louisiana is a
unique place to live, and soon the cries known to any local will ring through the
streets; “Throw Me Something Mister.” Ever wonder where the tradition of bead throwing came from? Or what made begging for ingredients for a
community gumbo so popular? Where did the tradition of Mardi Gras come
from and how are our celebrations different from Mardi Gras celebrated in the early days? Dr. Ancelet will explain the history of Mardi Gras traditions in
South Louisiana. Call the Main Library at 364.7024 to register for this
informative, and enlightening event! You may even be surprised by a special,
Mardi Gras sweet treat!

Life Writing-Instructor Kim Graham-Cost for Semester $125
Learn how to capture memories, remember old friends or preserve your unique family history through writing. Iberia Parish Library has been
hosting the Life Writing Classes since 2005 and is excited to continue this wonderful program as well as work with Kim Graham and UL.
Classes will be held Wednesdays and begin on
January 23. Choose the class time that fits your schedule best and
register at the Main Library. Payment is required upon registering.

Wonderful Acrylics-Instructor Kate Ferry-Cost for Semester $80
Experienced artists looking for new material are invited to participate in an advanced art class with artist Kate Ferry. In this class you will be
working with large canvas assignments and work on a variety of projects. This class is not for beginners.
Class begins Tuesday, January 22 and will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
at the St. Peter Library. Register at the Main Library. Payment is
required upon registering.
