An inclement weather notice has gone
home with all the children. Metropolis
Head Start will follow the policy of
Massac County School Districts. Watch
Snowman 6 for school closings and early
dismissal notices due to worsening
weather conditions.
Also, winter is upon us, please make sure
your child has a weather appropriate
change of clothes in case of accidents.
Home visits will start January 22.
Teachers will be discussing possible
times to complete these with you.
Parent Coordinators: Ms. Chelsi, Ms. Amanda
We still have some openings in our afternoon classes. If you know of any families
with children ages 3 to 5 that would be interested, encourage them to contact
either Chelsi or Amanda.
Amanda and Chelsi will be contacting each parent about scheduling a second
assessment. Please make arrangements to meet with your parent coordinator to
get this done.
As a reminder, please remember to call your child in if they are going to be absent.
If your child misses school we must make contact with you so that we can note why
the child is absent.
Reminder, our parent group meeting will be Tuesday, January 9th, at 12:15 p.m., we
hoe to see you there.
From the Classrooms: Ms. Angie/Ms. Erin, Ms. Tiffany/Ms. Ann, Ms. Cindy/Ms. Jenny, Ms. Tasha/Ms. Anna, Ms. Mandy
We are pleased to
announce that a second
afternoon classroom will
open back up on Monday,
January 8th. Ms. Mandy
has returned from helping
at Brookport and is excited
to be taking this new
classroom. She is excited
to meet all the new
children. Please help us in
welcoming Ms. Mandy
back to Metropolis Head
Start.
Our classrooms are
continuing to work on
letter recognition. The
teachers feel that the
children have a good grasp
on the rules and routines
of the classroom and are
ready to move on to more
educational concepts.
Classes will be working on
kindergarten readiness
and discussing preposition
words.

Safety Corner: Red Cross
Cold Weather Safety Tips
As temperatures drop this winter, the American Red Cross offers steps people can take to stay safe during the cold weather.
1. Layer Up! Wear layers of lightweight clothing to stay warm. Gloves and ha hat will help prevent losing your body heat.
2. Remember the three feet rule. If you are using a space heater, place it on a level, hard surface and keep anything flammable at least three feet away.
3. Protect your pipes. Run water, even at a trickle, to help prevent your pipes from freezing.
4. The kitchen is for cooking. Never use a stove or oven to heat your home.
