It is used to make: • Electronics, dentistry, coins, jewelry

SILVER Silver was also one of the first metals that were

found. It is a shiny white metal. It is also found in nuggets.

Silver is used to make:• Mirrors, silverware, coins, camera film, jewelry

PLATINUM It was not discovered as long ago as silver and gold. It is more grey than silver. It is found as nuggets,

grains or crystals. It is used to make:

• Car exhaust, lab equipment, jewelry, glass, petrol (gas from oil), cancer medicine, thermometers, computer hard drives

PYRITE This is known as “fool’s gold” because people

always make mistakes in thinking that it is gold.

Pyrite is not as yellow as gold.
