Most seem applicable to seniors as

to local, live music concerts. 25. Swap soda or other sugary
drinks for tea. 26. Try a fitness
class. 27. Learn a new language
on a free app like Duolingo. 28.
Do a little act of kindness daily;
29. Keep a notepad next to your

night. 30. Start your morning with
a stretching routine. 31. Find a

Improvement: New Year’s Resolutions
Bea Well’s Buzz on Health: The Winter Blues
Aging With Grace®
Page 2
Some other ways to fight the win-ter blues are : 1. Enjoy activities unique to the
season. Ice skate. Feed the birds. Make a snowman, etc.
2. Wear bright colors. 3. Stock up on Vitamin D...food
sources are best. 4. Make a movie and book list. I
like comedies. 5. Hang with positive people.
6. Learn something new...your brain will thank you!
7. Start a new project. It will dis-tract you from your sadness.
8. Eat winter mood food. Fire up the crock pot.
9. Try a sun lamp early in the day.
10. Sit by the fire. But you need not go to the trouble of build-ing a fire in your house: You can borrow someone else’s fire — even a coffee shop’s — or you can simply light a few can-dles and enjoy a primal mo-ment.

Dinner Menu Dinner is from Noon To 1:00
We have a routine that begins at
11:30. First, we put the tables
and chairs back after exercising.
Then, uplifting instrumental mu-
sic and beautiful pictures are put
on the big screen television in the
Linton Lounge (the space we use
as the dining room). Next, the
table is set with tablecloth,
chargers, knife, fork, spoon, and
cloth napkins. The hand sanitizer
is passed. Then the milk is poured
and placed on the table. The din-

ing director asks each member
if they would like tea or coffee
with their meal and makes sure
each member has water in front
of them. Then the music is
paused and the dinner bell is
rung, signifying it is time for a
moment of silence for thankful-
ness. After that the salad or
fruit is served with the bread,
followed by the main course. As
the disposables are cleared after
the meal, the dining director

Breakfast Menu Continental Breakfast 8-9
Breakfast at Aging With Grace is a
quiet time...a time to prepare for
the day. We love the smell of hot
coffee brewing as we make prepa-
rations for the activity that follows
breakfast. We have a local morn-
ing paper available for members
to look over at their leisure. Other
members prefer to work a cross-
word or a word search. Still others
like reading a morning scripture
or devotional. And some just look
at the pretty pictures on the big

screen television that is hooked
up to the internet as they drink
their beverage. We love to find a
beautiful video to watch and
good music (usually oldies but
goodies) to listen to as we slowly
wake up each morning. Not eve-
ry member who comes in the
morning eats with us, but we
always encourage the consump-
tion of liquids and make sure
each member has bottled water
in front of them as soon as they

January Tea & A Tale Time Menu
Tea & A Tale Time 3:30 To 4:30
Each day our afternoon tea is a
time of refreshment and re-
energizing with a snack and a
beverage. We also cheer ourselves
up with jokes and funny stories.
Have you heard these?
My husband and I purchased an
old home in Upstate New York
from two elderly sisters. Winter
was fast approaching and I was
concerned about the house's lack
of insulation. "If they could live
Volume 5, Issue 1 Page 5
here all those years, so can we!"
my husband confidently
declared. One late November
night the temperature plunged
to zero, and we woke up to
find interior walls covered with
frost. My husband called the
sisters to ask how they had
kept the house warm. After a
rather brief conversation, he
hung up. "For the past 30
years," he muttered, "they've
gone to Florida for the winter."
