ABOUT WOMENCHANGEMAKERS

WomenChangeMakers (WCM) is a Fellowship program of the Womanity Foundation.

WCM focuses on identifying and supporting social entrepreneurs who run successful

organizations that work for women’s empowerment, address systemic gender

inequalities, and positively transform society. With the overarching goal of enabling

social entrepreneurs to scale and/or replicate their program and, ultimately, maximize

impact, WCM Fellows are provided with the following: i) access to professional services

from partners, such as consultancies and training; ii) connections with investors and

other social entrepreneurs working in a similar environment; and iii) mentorships,

partnerships, and expert consultations.

The program is currently in its sixth year of implementation. The first Fellows were

selected in Brazil in August 2011 and then in India in April 2012. The second generation

of Fellows was selected in India and Brazil in August and December 2013, respectively,

and the selection of the third generation of WCM Fellows was concluded in India and

Brazil in September and October 2015, respectively. The Fellows of the 1st Generation

are now Alumni with a lifelong membership to the WomenChangeMakers network, and

the 2nd Generation will be graduating in 2017.

NEXT STEPS FOR WOMENCHANGEMAKERS

These are the main steps the program will be taking to grow in the future:

MAPPING OF THE WOMAN EMPOWERMENT ECOSYSTEM IN BRAZIL

In partnership with UN Women, Brazil Foundation, C&A Institute and several

professional partners, WomenChangeMakers’ Brazil is looking to map Brazilian

women empowerment ecosystem into an interactive platform that will allow different

collaborators to profit from the synergy of shared experiences and lessons.

STRUCTURED MENTORSHIPS

WomenChangeMakers’ India has added structured mentorship and advisory to the

Fellowship program, so that Fellow organizations can enhance their institutional

leadership. Partners on-board are Dasra, Indian School of Development

Management and others.

CASE STUDY

WCM has proved to be a successful accelerator model of intervention, delivering

customized solutions through professional partnerships, capacity building and

networking. WCM’s approach can be beneficial for all stakeholders involved in the

ecosystem of corporate and social sector organizations. A Business Case is

underway by the program team to explore the possibility of scaling and replicating

the program in the future, as well as documenting best practices for cross-sector

collaboration & partnerships.

SELECTION PANEL FOR THE 4TH GENERATION FELLOWS

WomenChangeMakers launched the process for the selection of the 4th generation

of WCM Fellows in October 2016 by kicking off nominations. In 2017, the process

will continue with shortlisting, site visits, and eventually with the Selection Panel

itself, both in Brazil and in India, which are scheduled for the second quarter (May in

Brazil and June in India).
