JAPANESE FOR EVERYONE
WORKBOOK
This workbook is specifically designed to aid the student using JAPANESE FOR EVERYONE as his introductorγtext. While the exercises accompanγi ng each lesson in JAPANESE FOR EVERYONE are inteided primarilγto develop ski I ls in communi cating with Japanese speakers, the goal of the exercises in the workbook is to facili tate the acquisition of fundamental grammatical skills, including basic grammatical and sentence patterns, vocabularγitems, particle use, along with other characteristic features of the Japanese language. ·in addition, a number of discourse and composi tion exercises provide the student with ample opportunitγ to express his own ideas and opiions, or talk about himself, as the situation demands.
As with the text, the workbook recognizes the importace of mastering the writ ten language as well. To help the student along, a larger, easγto read tγpe face is used for the beginning lessons. Directions for each exercise, given in English at the beginning of the book, are later given in both English and Japanese, and towards the end, almost exclusivelγin Japanese.
The workbook contains generallγfive detachable pages of exercises for each les son in the text, with usua 11γtwo functions or grammar notes per page. Self-taught learners might complete the workbook page bγ page as a means of measuring their understandiig of the functions and grammar notes in the text. In classroom situa tions, the pages of the workbook form handγhomework assignments; to be torn out and handed in the following lesson. (Pages are easilγremoved using a bit of caution.) Answers to the exercises are printed at the back of the workbook, except for those exercises asking for students' own thoughts or opinions, etc. Moreover, a Teacher’s Manual for JAPANESE FOR EVERYONE is available as another in this series of publications from Galken.
As the golden axiom in the field saγs “There is no roγal road to foreign Ian guage masterγ” Those making the greatest effort enjoγthe greatest returns. Repeat the same exercises until γou are cerγou have mastered them. We offer you our best wishes for success in learning Japanese!
