Not so long, long ago, West of the Ashley River, there lived a summer camp Filled with children. These children
spent their days playing, laughing, singing, and creating memories that would last forever. We invite you to look
through the pages of this graphic novel and meet our heroes: Commander Funtastic, Lady Laughter, and
Lieutenant Friendship . See where their adventures take them as they f ight off our villain, Doctor Summer Ho-Hum
and his Band of Evil Boredoms.
Journey through a typical day at Camp Baker and see how through Arts and Crafts, Drama, Music, Sports, Culture, Swim
lessons and Free Swim sessions, our campers develop their repellant to ward off the Band of Evil Boredoms.
Why choose Camp Baker? Because we offer something for everyone, all in your own backyard. We are
camping professionals, educators, social workers, and experienced child care staff, all committed to giving
your child quality summer experiences. Year after year, Our parents have consistently rated us the
#1 summer camp in the Lowcountry! Campers return not only because of the fun they have had and
the friends they have made, but because of the staff who return year after year to give them the summer of
a lifetime. For over 65 years, Camp Baker staff have been helping campers grow, develop, and create memories
that will last forever. Join us, and let your child's adventure begin.

M E E T O U R D I R E C T O R SBrian Debolt | JCC Camp baker Director
Hello camp families and friends. I am so excited to be joining Camp Baker. My name is Brian DeBolt and I will be your camp director this summer. I am honored to join the returning staff
and am looking forward to a spectacular summer of adventures and long lasting memories. I am currently a second grade teacher at Summerville Elementary and head coach of the Lady
Wave soccer team at Summerville High. I have a wonderful wife of almost three years and we have two dogs Bennett and Sadie. For the last 3 years I have been the director of the Milton
Collins Day Camp at the Arnstein Jewish Community Center in Knoxville Tennessee. I have worked there for over 12 years moving up through the ranks. Camp has made me the person I
am today as I have seen firsthand the positive impact it can make on a child's life. I promise to make this summer the best yet!
Alexis Bailey | Camp Baker Assistant Director Shalom Chaverim (friends)! Join the Camp Baker Crew for an exciting Summer of Superheroes. I am excited to be back for my seventh year at Camp Baker! Camp Baker truly is your child’s
get away where they can learn, create, explore and make impossible things possible. As the #1 Summer Camp in the Lowcountry, our goal is to ensure that your child comes home sharing
the tales of the fun-filled adventures that they will have at camp and wake up excited and ready for another day at Camp Baker. I can truly say that Camp Baker is a wonderful place to be.
I am proud to be a part of such an amazing community and I can’t wait to see the new and returning faces for Camp Baker 2013!
Daniel Stern | JCC Aquatics Director
Daniel Stern joins the JCC team after having worked in the recreation field for four years with the City of Charleston. He holds a degree in Sports Management from The Citadel, as well as
his lifeguarding, WSI and CPO certifications. He is highly experienced in working with participants of all ages in sports, facility programs and community events. We look forward to a great
summer splashing around the pool with Daniel!
Robin Shuler | CAMP BAKER SONG leader
Robin Shuler has been a songleader and youth advisor at KKBE for many years. She advises the Senior Youth Group, CHARLEY, and has provided the music for monthly Tot Shabbat and Family
Shabbat Services. In her free time, she enjoys leading Shabbat Services and Sing-A-Longs at several Senior Centers around town and is super excited to join us for her first summer at Camp Baker.

Summer 2013
marks our son
Jacob's sixth summer
at Camp Baker and he's only eight
years old! Camp Baker is where
Jacob learned to swim. As a
f ive year old member of the JCC
Starf ish swimteam, during his third
summer at Camp Baker, we watched
and cried tears of joy as he swam
the entire 25 meter length of the
Pearlstine pool. Jacob looks
forward to spending each summer
with his camp friends. In addition
to swimming, he loves karate
and soccer specialty camps. As
parents, Stuart and I treasure
the continuity of friends and
counselors. As a camper, Jacob
treasures the memories he will
share for a lifetime.
