Extension Cords

Using extension cords is notrecommended. The use of extension

cords will cause voltage to dropresulting in power loss to the motorand overheating.

Attach extra air hoses at the air outlet

instead of using extension cords.

If an extension cord must be used,be sure it is:

a 3-wire extension cord that has

a 3-blade grounding plug, and a3-slot receptacle that will acceptthe plug on the product

in good condition

no longer than 50 feet

12 gauge (AWG) or larger. (Wiresize increases as gauge numberdecreases. 10 AWG and 8 AWG

may also be used. DO NOT USE14 OR 16 AWG.)

Voltage and Circuit Protection

Refer to the Parts Manual for the

voltage and minimum branch circuitrequirements.

Certain air compressors can beoperated on a 15 amp circuit if thefollowing conditions are met.

1. Voltage supply through branchcircuit is 15 amps.

2. Circuit is not used to supply anyother electrical needs (lights, appliances, etc.).

3. Extension cords comply withspecifications.

4. Circuit is equipped with a 15amp circuit breaker or 15 amptime delay fuse. NOTE: Ifcompressor is connected to acircuit protected by fuses, useonly time delay fuses. Time delayfuses should be marked "D" inCanada and "T" in the US.

If any of the above conditions cannotbe met, or if operation of thecompressor repeatedly causesinterruption of the power, it may benecessary to operate it from a 20amp circuit. It is not necessary tochange the cord set.

Know Your Air Compressor

READ THIS OWNER'S MANUAL AND SAFETY RULES BEFORE OPERATING

YOUR UNIT. Compare the illustrations with your unit to familiarize yourself withthe location of various controls and adjustments. Save this manual for futurereference.

OutletPressure i

Gauge

Safety Valve

Description of OperationBecome familiar with these controlsbefore operating the unit.On/Auto/Off Switch: Turn this switchON to provide automatic power tothe pressure switch and OFF toremove power at the end of eachuse.

Pressure Switch: The pressureswitch automatically starts the motorwhen the air tank pressure dropsbelow the factory set "cut-in"pressure. It stops the motor when theair tank pressure reaches the factoryset "cut-out" pressure.

Safety Valve: If the pressure switchdoes not shut off the air compressorat its "cut-out" pressure setting, thesafety valve will protect against highpressure by "popping out" at itsfactory set pressure (slightly higherthan the pressure switch "cut-out"setting).

Outlet Pressure Gauge: The outletpressure gauge indicates the airpressure available at the outlet sideof the regulator. This pressure iscontrolled by the regulator and isalways less than or equal to the tankpressure.

13_ ENG

Tank Pressure Gauge: The tankpressure gauge indicates the reserveair pressure in the tank.

Regulator: Controls the air pressureshown on the outlet pressure gauge.Pull the knob out and turn clockwiseto increase pressure andcounterclockwise to decrease

pressure. When the desired pressureis reached push knob in to lock inplace.

Drain Valve: The drain valve islocated at the base of the air tankand is used to drain condensation atthe end of each use.

Cooling System (not shown): Thiscompressor contains an advanceddesign cooling system. At the heartof this cooling system is anengineered fan. It is perfectly normalfor this fan to blow air through thevent holes in large amounts. Youknow that the cooling system isworking when air is being expelled.

D27299

Page 14: JCRRFTSMRN1 - Sears Parts Direct,l;_'l'J l l= WARNING: RISK OF FALLING WHAT CAN HAPPEN A portable compressor can fall from a table, workbench or roof causing damage to the compressor

Air Compressor Pump (not shown):Compresses air into the air tank.Working air is not available until thecompressor has raised the air tankpressure above that required at theair outlet.Check Valve: When the aircompressor is operating, the checkvalve is "open", allowing compressedair to enter the air tank. When the aircompressor reaches "cut-out"pressure, the check valve "closes",allowing air pressure to remain insidethe air tank.

Pressure Release Valve: Thepressure release valve located on theside of the pressure switch, isdesigned to automatically releasecompressed air from the compressorhead and the outlet tube when the aircompressor reaches "cut-out"pressure or is shut off. The pressurerelease valve allows the motor torestart freely. When the motor stopsrunning, air will be heard escapingfrom this valve for a few seconds. No air should be heard leaking whenthe motor is running or after the unitreaches "cut-out" pressure.

Motor Overload Protector: Themotor has an automatic reset thermaloverload protector. If the motoroverheats for any reason, theoverload protector will shut off themotor. The motor must be allowed tocool down before restarting. Thecompressor will automatically restartafter the motor cools.

How to Use Your Unit

How to Stop:

1. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to"OFF".

Before First Start-up

Serious damagemay result if the

following break-in instructions arenot closely followed.
